Default Buy Shooter!!

There has been talk of boycotting Paramount titles. I don't think that will do it. If we really want Paramount to know what they will suffer, go out and BUY existing Paramount Blu-ray titles like crazy. If you don't have 'Shooter', find it and buy it regardless of price. That will generate a serious in-flux of money that could compare to the bribe they received. Their existing titles will need to be replenished and sell-outs across the globe will make them think, "Woah, this just got much more serious than we thought! Did we really make the right decision?" I did my part and dropped $120 after work. Anybody else with me?

Give them the money to show them how much they will really lose out on. That's the point. If they ignore the fact that their titles are selling out on Blu-ray then they are really bad business people. I'm sure that a bunch of people have put some Paramount titles on the back-burner of their lists for purchasing in anticipation of bigger titles from other studios. I'm even guilty of it. And now I realize that maybe that is why Paramount even started to consider this deal. Their product may not have been doing so well on Blu-ray. It's time to bump those titles to the top!

You could also think of it this way... if you really want any Paramoung titles on Blu-ray, get them now. Pretty soon it may not be available on Blu-ray again for a VERY LONG TIME. Get it "WHILE QUANTITIES LAST"!

Unless we purchase $150 million worth of Shooter, you're not going to change anything. Heck, all sales from all movies from all studios in both Blu-ray & HD DVD combined still do not even come close to $150 million.

There's no use fighting the corporations. Either buy HD DVD or don't. That's all you can do.

I jumped and bought the MI series at the wake of the news... now I think I'll buy Shooter, too! I think we're hurting blu-ray more if we stop buying whatever Paramount titles remain.

Blu-ray top 10 on Amazon:

#9 - Blades of Glory (#292 v. HD DVD's #540)
#10 - Shooter (#311 v. HD DVD's #1820)

They dropped Blu-ray right?! This isn't some goof up?

Morons.

I'm sure Amazon will thank they profusely for doing this to them.

Gary

Here is a link to Blu-ray.com's list of Paramount titles. You will notice that all of those with release dates yet to come and no release date were titles that were confirmed as "works in progress"... which means that they will no longer be Blu!

What difference does it make? Paramount can't just back out of an announced deal with any sort of ease. Paramount is fully aware of the sales in BD over HD-DVD. It is done time to move on. All Paramount will think is "Wow we cashed in AND people are still buying our remaining BD - SWEET".

F'em.

Don't give Paramount your money!!! They already knew blu-ray was outselling HD DVD, but that didn't matter so how would you supporting their blu-rays change anything. I'm going to Best Buy tonight and pick up a Warner Bros movie. Show them some love.
