Default How can I buy 300 and Shooter next Tuesday?

Here is my dilemma. I have been waiting for the movies 300 and Shooter on BD for months. It is one week away from release date and I really want to have the movies in my hand on or about Tuesday of next week.

What are your recommendations for getting this on the release day? I hate overpaying. Let me rephrase that, I really hate overpaying for BD's, but these are a must have for me. I think it is too late to preorder and still get them next Tuesday. Going to BB, CC, or Fry's seem to be the only options but I know I wil be overpaying. What are your plans/recommendations for getting these on release day? This is one reason I like buying games instead of movies, games are the same price across the shops on release day whereas movies can greatly range in price.

You know what they say ... "you can't have your cake and eat it too". If it is that important to you to have it ON release day, you may have no choice but to get it from an overpriced store.

Are you an Amazon prime member? Why not order it from Amazon and upgrade to next-day air. (often only $1.99 extra). You would most likely get it delivered on Wednesday.

Ofcourse, I suppose you could always do it the WalMart way. Buy it from Walmart on release day -- order an additional copy online -- return the online copy back to walmart later that week. Be Warned however that I have never done this myself, so success is not guaranteed. (I do have friends who frequently pull these type of stunts)

Hmm, I thought about doing something similar recently as I bought a movie from a local store, did not really care for it, and am wondering how it would work if I wanted to return it and claim I did not know that I needed a BD player...

I certainly would not do this for 300 or Shooter, but this seems like a potential method for returning movies I don't care for watching again. Sometimes the restocking fee is less than a rental fee.

Default simply....

Honestly, I have never had a problem picking any title up on the street date ever. Plus a title like 300 the shevles will be stacked like POTC. Shooter shouldn't have a problem either. Big enough title will definitely be put on the shelfs.

Really? That's cool. I have prime as well, but my movies always come in on wednesday. I guess you're located closer to their distribution center.

Occassionally I think amazon utilizes other stores. I got a movie shipped from Amazon a couple of weeks ago with a Sears price sticker on it. Imagine that!

I dont think they will let you get away with this on open/watched items.

I would suggest Frys if you have one close by. I always get mine there and I think they're generally the cheapest.

I have a question for the Amazon buyers. I've been considering ordering my titles from Amazon but I thought I had read that if you use super saving shipping, your items won't arrive for several weeks. Do you have to use prime to get your titles to arrive on release day or will pre orders with just super saver shipping still arrive on time?

Super Savings shipping is awefully slow. I've had it take as much as 2 weeks.

I do really recommend Amazon Prime. It may be difficult to part with the initial 80 dollars (or however much it is nowadays) but it is so worth it. Ever since I got Prime, I've been ordering on average at least twice a week.

Now, getting Prime does not guarantee you'll get it on release day. I live in Houston Texas and always get my discs the day after (wednesday). Perhaps if I upgrade to Next-day air (sometimes for only $1.99) I may get it on Tue, but normally I get them on Wed. I do hear stories of people getting them on release day .... I guess those folks just live closer to their distribution center.

Amazon normally prepares my packages on Sunday night and ships them out on monday.

$80 a year is nothing especially if you order frequently from them, a little less than $7 a month

Here is what most of my shipments look like - I forgot I ordered weeds season 2 (below) as 2 day. However it still arrived on release day. I am going to order some more as 2 day (which is free for prime members) and see if they arrive on release day as well. Will save me 3.99 a movie and my discount can fully go to the title.

It varies as to where you are and how many orders are placed. Obviously next day and 2 day orders are shipped first. Then your order (if you do super saver). I have done SS a few times and it was about 3-5 days and most times I got it within 3/4 days. I guess I am close to their facilities.
