I would suggest Frys if you have one close by. I always get mine there and I think they're generally the cheapest.
I have a question for the Amazon buyers. I've been considering ordering my titles from Amazon but I thought I had read that if you use super saving shipping, your items won't arrive for several weeks. Do you have to use prime to get your titles to arrive on release day or will pre orders with just super saver shipping still arrive on time? |

I do really recommend Amazon Prime. It may be difficult to part with the initial 80 dollars (or however much it is nowadays) but it is so worth it. Ever since I got Prime, I've been ordering on average at least twice a week. Now, getting Prime does not guarantee you'll get it on release day. I live in Houston Texas and always get my discs the day after (wednesday). Perhaps if I upgrade to Next-day air (sometimes for only $1.99) I may get it on Tue, but normally I get them on Wed. I do hear stories of people getting them on release day .... I guess those folks just live closer to their distribution center. Amazon normally prepares my packages on Sunday night and ships them out on monday. |

Thanks for all the input on Amazon shipping. If you have to pay extra to get it around release day, I would just assume go and pick it up at my local Frys since they're usually the same price or cheaper. The only problem has been some titles like The Fifth Element remastered and Dragon's Lair are never in stock there so I've been considering switching to Amazon.
Drinkmore, thanks for the info on Prime groups, I may end up going that route. If I knew titles would arrive on release day, it would be a no brainer. |

I call the store in the morning and ask them to pull the copies for me and hold them. They do that for a week. If I don't show up within that time, they go back on the shelf. Yeah, I may pay 5 bucks more per disc but I get at least 5 bucks worth out of them in getting them when I want to.

Another option is to get it at Fry's and watch closely for the next month, if it shows up on sale, then you can get a credit down to the sale price. I have seen them put new releases on sale the friday after the release date.. and have gotten the credit for the price delta.

Occassionally I think amazon utilizes other stores. I got a movie shipped from Amazon a couple of weeks ago with a Sears price sticker on it. Imagine that! |
