Default HD DVD Blades and Heroes Still on Shelves

I went to my local Best Buy after work today and saw the shelves full of Blades of Glory and Heroes for HD DVD. It looks like no one is buying either of them. Where the standard DVD versions of both seemed to be selling like hotcakes.

Just thought that was interesting.

By the way, I picked up 3 more Blu's today (2 Warner titles and 1 Disney).

Go Blu!

Same here. They had quite a big number of Heroes for HD DVD in stock at HMV, Best Buy and Future Shop.

the price for heroes is pretty steep though and did anyone really think that Blades of glory would be a hot cake seller or any HD format?

Agreed, and theres no way I would pay the price tag of the Heroes set even though its a great tv show, although I may pick up battlestar, my number one fav show on tv.

Thats why I dont like "at my store" threads, because at my best buy I could find plenty of 300's release day on both formats while other people couldnt.

$45-50 for Heroes on DVD compared to $80-$85 on HD DVD in Canada...

Yeah, I'll say it's steep all right.

It was ok, I just think Ferrel use to do a much better job, back in the days of Old School. Don't even get me started on that napolian dynamite guy, HE'S NOT FUNNY. gah lol I get so upset when people think he is.

I do believe the Heroes HD will probably eventually sell out but the fact that Paramount move last week could end up showing that their movie (HD DVD) doesn't perform well is quite surprising. I never saw the movie and didn't plan on purchasing it even if it was on Blu ray.

Although I still think the move was made for the Holiday season for Transformers and Shrek 3.

elf, anchorman and old school are gold in my opinion. However, talladega nights and blades of glory you got to be hooked on crack to enjoy them. that is my personal opinion, and don't mean to offend anyone.

BB and Walmart here in Honolulu, didnt have Blades on HD at all... Heroes didnt seem to sell as well as the DVD version... no wonder at those prices. Blades was funny and all, but $15 DVD is better than $25 and up for HD...

I didn't ask specifically if they had restocked but the fact that there were still tons of standard DVD's of Blades of Glory, I believe those had not been restocked. As for Heroes, there were approximately 4 or 5 HD DVD versions left on the shelf. The standard DVD versions were getting pretty slim so that appeared to be the hot buy of the day. I'm sure the HD DVD version will eventually sale out.

At over double the price, combined with the limited number of customers for it to begin with

I'll lay money right now that Amazon sold over 50% of the copies of Heroes HD DVD out there.

You can Download Heros on XBOX live Marketplace, I got my copy from HD Addicts. It's still a really good show. But I don't think I'm going to buy anymore shows on HD disk forms of either from here on out though. Seeing as how there is no experiation date on my tv shows that I download I'll just get them on xbox marketplace. I'll stick the disks for the feature films.

Same here. The Best Buy appeared to have 30 or so slots for the HD DVD, and 25 copies were still there. Of course, it may have been restocked, but there were a heck of a lot of DVD copies too.

It will be interesting to see the numbers next week.
