Default Bootleg or non bootleg?

I recently recieved the departed from amazon used, the seller who sent it to me sent it in a Blu ray case but with a really crappy cover art that he printed off his computer by the looks of it.

I was wondering if blank blu ray's look the same as regular. The ink on the disc looks legit like it was done by the manufacturer, but was just checking because I'm not going to let this fly if its bootlegged.

Thanks for your time.

It should show up as a BD-R when you pop it in.

Thanks for clarifying, its an actual BD then, thank god. I can't stand having anything bootlegged, feels cheap...

Sounds like another person stealing discs.

No one has successfully bootlegged blu-ray yet, and doing so will be exceedingly difficult since they now have "fingerprints" of every pressing line.

By the way, all you have to do is look on Ebay, and you'll see tons of Blu-rays for sale with no case or artwork. I guess its becoming somewhat of an epidemic.

like wicky said you have nothing to worry about successful bootleg of a bd haven't been done yet and its harder to pull off. i think the guy you bought the disc from ruined the cover and thought it would be nice to print one out for you.

I meant if you check the ID when you play it, if it's a BD-R it should show up on the info tab.

I don't think you will see bootleg Blu-rays for a while assuming you could easily copy them, as the blanks are still quite expensive - so add the box etc and it would hardly be worth their time and effort. I hope that the price of blanks falls quickly though, piracy is not acceptable (except for the Disney sort).

Because they're all stolen. BRs are high-SRP items that fence well. They pop the disc out of the case for portability and concealment.

that has to be a good thief, lol, they would have to pop open the case, take off the stickers, lol too much work, all while trying to be quiet, any way when i sell movies, i usally sell without the case, because shipping is cheaper, but i put the item cheaper too, and i usually just print artwork for some, because 1. the original artwork was damaged, or 2. i keep it in case i ever want to buy again, and i could buy it cheaper from some selling the disc only, lol

Actually what they do is they smack the box to free the disc inside then slice open the side and then slide the disc out. Goes pretty quickly and can be done quietly. Then put the box back down and leave with the disc.

I found this out when I came across a fully opened box for Night at the Museum and the clerk told me it's usually not completely opened.

The security stickers on sides and bottom are there for a reason

When I was a buyer, I figured out how to steal a DVD quickly barely doing any harm even to the shrink.

There was a guy wecalled the "VHS Vacuum", even with LP standing right next to him he was stealing stuff. Never figured out how he did it.
