Default Personal Tought on why Paramount doesnt care about hddvd

in my opinion if Paramount really wanted to help hddvd they would have tried different things.
for example why release transformers (their biggest hit) in mid octuber when if they are trying to get new adapters they would have market it in december for the hollidays. By this time people would have already gotten the movie on dvd and i dont see a lot of people double dipping it in just two months for that movie. sure it will sell but wont make a big impact
also, shrek the 3rd, they could have made more money if they released all three movies, sony is doing it with spiderman, warner is doing it with the harry potter movies and fox is doing it with the die hard films and this will be huge for blu-ray, i just think it would have helped hddvd more.
i support blu-ray and this makes me happy that they didnt do this, but i guess it shows they are just in it for the quick cash.
toughts!
buying: underworld, dawn of the dead, halloween, day after tomorrow, rise of the silver surfer, 28 days later, 28 weeks later, edward scissorhands and robocop. will get them all on the 16th so their beloved transformers gets some competion.

Yeah we know Paramount is pimping HD DVD. Hey, for $150 million, why not? But I'm always gonna remember the back stab. No more DVDs or Paramount theater movies for me.

Even when they resume selling blu's again? Because it will happen--Paramount won't have a choice. Imagine, if the studio just remained neutral until Xmas, this whole stupid format war would've been resolved. $$$Bribery is illegal, isn't it?

Default What if?

Ok after reading about how Paramount/Dreamworks not including Dolby True HD tracks on Shrek 3 and Transformers HD DVDs.Now what if Paramount dropped HD DVD instead of Blu-Ray.Do you think Paramount would of included PCM tracks on the Blu-Ray versions?or do you think they would of stuck with a DTS track and Dolby Digital track like the other movies that they had released.I know Blaze of Glory was going to included PCM,but would they with Transformers and Shrek 3? I guess we will never know?

Had Paramount released Transformer on bluray, it would have had a PCM soundtrack. The technical staff at Paramount was just starting to appreciate bluray when the rug was pulled out from underneath them. I cannot speak of Shrek the 3rd, but I do know about Transformers. Paramount was just beginning to work with PCM on their releases, and a high profile release like Transformers would have been perfect for them to show how they where embracing the bluray technology. Hate the higher ups, the technical staff really digs bluray.

I'm very suspicious just how well Paramount will support HD DVD. I'd imagine the payoff specified to Paramount just how many titles they have to release (in whatever form), but who knows. To date, it doesn't look impressive and their specs for announced titles just seem to get worse. I'll be surprised if they even factor or change the Neilson numbers much.

Yeah really it's no longer about music. Now it's all that crap like the Hills or Laguna Beach. If Laguna Beach is the REAL OC I wouldn't be caught dead there.
