Default I Couldn't Care Less About 3-D

So, all this talk ALREADY about 3D this and 3D that is getting old. I personally have no interest in 3D TV's, 3D made films and whatever else they feel like throwing 3D into.

I understand some people love 3D and that's fine if they want it, but I personally don't NEED it and feel it doesn't make a film any better.

I watch movies for story, acting, characters, dialogue, atmosphere and all sorts of other things, not for big 3D sequences. I understand it may help to "pull you in" (har har) but I'm not gonna go run out to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D just because it is - because that's not what films are about. It may make the experience better, but it doesn't make me more interested in seeing a film.

Reason I start this thread is because I just found out The Cabin in the Woods got delayed until 2011 so they could be upconverted to 3D. Great

your thoughts on 3D?

For me, it makes the experience worse. It doesn't look good, it's blurry as hell, and when half the movie is out of focus, I'm less immersed.

i have no problems with it but i'm with you iambearcat. i dont watch movies for 3-D ex. if the departed made a 3-D release i wouldnt even wanna watch it once in that format. but movies like Coraline and Up i would love to have 3-D. however i will not buy a 3-D TV or Player

Hmmm... you COULD care less about 3D, if you hadn't started this "I Couldn't Care Less About 3D" thread.

I'm all for it. It's good progress and I don't see anything wrong with it. I'm not going to buy a new HDTV for now so I won't have use for the 3-D Blu-ray players but I see it as a great option to have for a future purchase.

Avatar was very cool, but the action sequences were blurry and disorienting and ruins the experience. It's not worth the hassle and expense to watch a movie in 3D because it's still far from perfect. It may never be perfect, but it's far from watching it casually.

Ive watched several 3d movies and enjoyed them all, for a theatre. I dont think i would own one in my home. Avatar was great but i dont think the whole movie should have been 3d....3d was perfect in coraline and bloody valentine

Same here. Although I personally would be pass on purchasing first gen products until the kinks get ironed out and some standards are in place. I'm not sure the at home experience will be the same as watching Avatar in the theater. For me movies are watched on a projector now not a 55" TV now (and yes the new Vizio will be quite small compared to a projection setup).

This whole 3D thing doesn't interest me either. Then again, Blu-Ray didn't interest me much at first either....

3D has been and always will be a gimmick. It has been even when it first came out. It adds nothing of substance to the story or fim. I just now start seeing movies in 3D because of the new Polarized glasses. Ya thats fine and dandy at the theatre but I'm not going to waste my time with 3D at home even with the upcoming 3D shit.
Really sucks about Cabin in the Woods being delayed til 2011. I thought Joss was smarter than that to get caught up in gimmicks.

My thoughts on it, its a novelty. People will get over it. At first it will be like this is great and after a few months, maybe less it will be like gimme something new im over it or I would like to sit back and watch a movie with out having to put on the damn glasses.

People are forgetting what about the people that have to wear glasses? My wife doesnt like contacts she cant stand them and she's not the only one and she certainly is not going to put glasses on top of glasses. If it succeeds and does well, great but I certainly wont be rushing and changing my gear for 3D.

I said it once and I'll say it again...invest in a high end 5.1 system if you want to be "pulled into the movie" and stick to the 2D image. I saw Avatar in 3D and I hated the glasses like I did years ago with other movies, and I found myself distracted from the content of the movie as my focus shifted to concentration of the "visuals." After seeing the Blu-ray 2D trailer for Avatar, I wished I would have skipped the 3D experience in the theater.

This 3d crap is getting old !!! The only way I'd make the jump to new gear would be if the tv is oled wifi 6million to one contrast or more , an 3d without
using stupid glasses an 21:9 then maybe but until then they can keep it

You hit it right there. Without the glasses. I will have to upgrade my projector one day and if they can do 3D without having to wear glasses well then I could be more persuaded.

Just saw a report saying that 3D enabled home theater components are going to be the norm (ie no choice but to buy 3D TVs Blu-rays etc.) Being blind in one eye 3D is just a waste of money for me.

So I don't know about anyone else but I going to to try my best to maintain the components I have, or buy some new ones right before they take regular devices off the market.

It's never going to be that popular. They just wish it would be. Don't worry about 2D becoming not available, that won't happen in your or my lifetime.

As for me and 3D... I think it's fun but not something I would want often... Just maybe occasionally.

Oh, come on, iam1bearcat. This is the last thing the industry of electronics and media have left to offer. Otherwise, they'd be lost and have nothing new to entice folks on.

On course, I could care less, too, about 3D.
