Default HDV to AVCHD

Having problems to get a Sony Blu-ray player to play HDV files (M2T) burnt on a Sony BWU 100 burner I wonder if there is anyway one could transform HDV into AVCHD, i.e. Mpeg 2 into Mpeg 4, without loss of quality? I know that the GOP of Mpeg 2 is shorter than that of Mpeg 4 so perhaps the two formats are for always incompatible. Why are there no 3 chip AVCHD cameras? Some people would say that the compression of AVCHD is too great to allow "real HD". I´m sure the issue of HDV/AVCHD will come up more and more. Sony for one seem to favour HDV for the higher end of the market, and AVCHD for the lower. At the same time Sony so far don´t want to open the path between HDV and Blu-ray players.
