Default Difference between HDMI and Component

If I have an upscaling DVD player, which connection would be best to use for better PQ? HDMI or Component? There are mixed opinions about this on the net and I was wondering what you guys thought? Do both upscale up to 1080?

So what does this site mean when it says it upscales to 1080p over component?

This is a quote from the site: "The NeuNeo HVD2085 is a DVD player with upconversion video output to either 720p/1080i via HDMI output and 720p/1080i/1080p via component output."

It will upscale anything that doesn't have DRM. Anything with DRM requires HDMI to decode it.
HDMI is always going to be your best connection with current hardware, hands down. If anyone is trying to tell you different, tell them to go jump in a lake!

Well.. you need to useeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Ah what? oh sorry I just passed out thinking if people are trying to get the same picture quality through component as HDMI. I am pretty sure it has been discussed though.

They got it backwards. The author must be an idiot, or didn't proof read.....or both!

Most TVs won't accept 1080p via component anyway so HDMI will be your only choice it that is what you want.

Does your TV have HDMI inputs?
If not, its not doing 1080p anyway.

HDMI advantage = upto 1080p, fully digital, upto 7 ch of PCM 192khz/24bits sound, Digital Bitstream of Next Gen Codec, all in 1 cable solution

HDMI Down = Can have compatibility issue with other machine. Althought they are pretty rare in HDMI 1.3 world, it still happen, mostly with DVI to HDMI machines, and SetupBoxes..

provided your Display is properly tuned, the picture quality difference between HDMI or Component output should be relatively the same, in many cases (oppo players and Samsungs that have been hacked) upscaling over component is possible, even if it violates DVD forum rules.

I've seen and read claims that component inputs can and occasionally do look slightly better, color-wise, than HDMI for some 1080i applications. Kind of like the Difference between Vinyl and CD.

HDMI might be more accurate to the digital source, but not as pleasing to the human eye as component analog signal.

It must be wrong cause it says the HDMI doesn't support 1080p. All HDMI supports 1080p whether or not the TV or source does. If it can get to 1080p, HDMI will do it. They must have accidentally switched the names...
Either way, HDMI is better not only cause the image IS better, but it also includes a full HD surround sound in the same cable. No need to hook up 5 cables to get a stereo sound.. now one cable gives you video and full surround sound.
