Default HDMI or Component connection from HD cable box, is there a difference?

Hello all,

I am new to this forum and took the HD jump and bought a Sony KDL-52XBR4 and it was delivered this Thursday and Charter cable came out yesterday (Friday) to install HD. I had not purchased any HDMI cables due to I don't have a blue-ray yet (will shortly) and I wanted to make sure the HD cable box which was being brought out had an HDMI connection. Well, after looking at the box when the Charter guy brought it in it does not have an HDMI connection at all. He connected my HD via component connections.

Is my HD going to suffer due to not being hooked up via HDMI? I watched John Adams last night on HBO and it looked really great, but is their loss through having a component connection? If so, should I switch to Direct TV Dish and do they offer HDMI connections though their receivers?

Thanks for any answers in advance.

Lewis,
