Default Does anyone else hate watching DVDs now?

Last night I had a free night for the first time in awhile so I decided to watch a movie. I waned to watch a movie I haven't seen in awhile, but when looking through my movies, every DVD i thought, "man, that won't look that great". It's even the same way when i watch tv, i tend to stay around the HD channels, and the only time I'll watch SD is if it's adult swim or south park or if a football game is in SD. Blu-Ray and High Definition has ruined my DVD collection (around 250 titles) and the other 200 or so channels i get.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I'm so hooked on high definition and blu-ray that it sickens me when I see a movie or sports event in standard definition. I do have a HD satellite receiver but not all channels are in HD. I sold most of my dvds already on ebay and now trying to get them on blu-ray. Now I'm just waiting for a newer technology thats higher than blu-ray

I have 82 Blu ray movies so far and love the difference in quality immensly, however I can still watch standards without a problem, I just avoid buying them anymore if possible.

I seen enough Blu Rays that it does take the trill out of DVD completely.

I don't think it's fair to say I would "hate" to go watch SW or LotR upconverted on my PS3 but I'm 100% certain now I'll be buying these again on Blu Ray ASAP.

I agree. I don't hate watching DVDs, I'm just not impress with them.

I am the same way. I will only be buying certain titles that I NEED right now that aren't out on Blu-ray. For example, The Office Season 3 will be on my X-mas list but everything else is Blu-ray here on out (or at least I'm hoping its that way).

I have nothing against DVDs, majority of my movies and all of tv shows are on DVD, they look good with an upscale from my Ps3 , Nothing looks better than Justice League upscaled.

Same here, I just rent DVDs now as I have stopped buying them altogether.
I don't mind watching them so much as long as I sit a little further from the TV.

When I first got my Bravia I'd watch any of the HD channels weather I cared about the subject matter or not just because it looked so good.

The worst SD DVD experience I've had since going Blu was about a month ago. Every Labor Day weekend I have a tradition of watching Weekend At Bernies... I know... Don't judge me... anyway, over the summer I upgraded from my old 55" HDTV to a 73" DLP, and Weekend At Bernies isn't animorphic. So I had to stretch it out to get the right ratio. YEEEEECH!!! I'll just say that Bernie has never looked that dead.

Maybe tonight I'll try playing it on my PS3, maybe the upscale will help.

I can't say I hate watching SD DVDs. I would rather watch blu, but sometimes I have to watch SDs. Just saything movies like Seven Samurai, Metropolis, Night of the Living Dead, Fight Club, Seven, Snatch, and Sin City are some of my favorite movies. I can't yet get any of those on blu, and when I get a hankering for pickie talk and Frankie Four Fingers I need to go SD. It is the sad truth of the world.

not really, not yet. I haven't make a full switch to high definition, although I started to buy BD more frequently, and watch it. I expect to make a full switch very soon before the end of the year, when I got my new laptop. I just received the news that my BD-RE drive is already within UK

I love those movies.

I don't mind SDs for TV series. I just bought The Unit season 1 at Amazon for $19.99. With upscaling from my Oppo, it looks good.

It's not BLU good, but it's probably 75% of the way there.

But I want all the movies I watch at least once per year in BLU. TV shows in SD (upscaled) work for me.

As to cable, I almost canceled it entirely. I don't watch anything but the HD channels.
