PS3 definitely has a longer life span, but Microsofts long plan is to keep the lifepsan cycle down to as little as 4 years. You will see Microsofts next console within 2 years and it will be more powerful than PS3. So the only thing Sony can do at this stage in the game is to make sure at the point where the next MS product arrives they have a commanding lead.

Microsoft make money from the PC world by forcing people to upgrade. This rings true with their consoles too.

Personally, I would buy a 360 now not a PS3. I would only buy it for games and practically nothing exclusive to the PS3 is on my wanted list (or must have). But technically I can see its the better machine. So overall I guess i'm waiting for Sony to bring out these games pronto. I'm on the bench at the moment, reluctantly, but I am.
