Thumbs up By far the best Graphics on a console! (CryEngine on PS3 Vid)

This vid really made me speechless!
Yes, there are a lot of great games with amazing graphics comming to PS3, to name some: Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, GT5, GoW3 and so on...
But Crytek's new engine optimized for the PS3, is OUTSTANDING!

Have you guys ever seen such realistic plants/trees physics on a console game? 3:15min in the vid.
While shooting the tree, how the tree moves and react, amazing! Also notice the scale, such a huge landscape with a huge ammount of trees and environments.

Then @ minute 7:00

What is this? This has to be a CGI movie, something like Beowulf!
The water, the rain, the raindrops on the water, the circles on the water, the lightnings, fire...there is soo much going on on the screen at the same time, and yet the textures look phenomenal. Imagine a RPG with the forrest enviroments.

Cervat Yerli says how they get to know the PS3 better and better, especially the Cell.

The matrix looks pretty cool. other than that the game is more Quantum of Solace. But still I will be checking it out.

Wait a minute guys, that's not even a GAME! That's JUST a Tech Demo, it's not even finished!

I can't wait until the first game with this amazing engine will be released on the PS3!!

Throwing a lot of pretty things on screen is all very well but an awful lot needs to be fixed and proven before this takes the console graphics crown.

Along with all the good stuff conveniently pointed out by the Crytek guy selling this, I see a choppy framerate - not in hectic combat circumstances with explosions, sparks, blurring effects, physics objects flying and lights spinning.. but just looking at some (pretty) environments. Full object pop-in and obvious LoD changes even through the low video quality, questionable image quality (last direct feed trailer had no AA), is an enclosed tunnel only needed for background loading if suddenly transitioning to a very different environment?

Okay, now you're just nit picking, but yeah, if this really wants to be the best in the console biz, they have to keep improving on their engine.

I don't think those are nit picks, I think those are VERY legitimate issues to make it even worthwhile.

Awful framerates and texture pop-in MURDERS a game no matter what. I cannot play a game that doesn't run smooth and is distracting with flashing/blinking textures in and out of my POV.

It's a neat tech demo, but it's got miles in front of it before it's going to be feasible IMHO.

Well at least it's still the tech demo, Shin. They just needed to fix the tidbits within the engine before Crysis 2 is about to finish.

It maybe the best MULTIPLATFORM engine on a console. Tech Demos are usually downgrade by the time it's used for an actual game.

Also, I've noticed what Shin-Ra has noticed. I can't wait to compare the engine to the Uncharted Engine 2.0, if Crytech's documentation will be available at GDC 2010.

Looks very good and very pretty, better than UE3.0 IMO, but it doesn't look better than a couple of console games out there

its kinda hard to tell right now because thats not finished and its a low-res youtube video, but i think that Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2 both look better personally

And it seems the engine is running better/faster on the PS3 than on the 360.

Here is the video were he says wait "the x360 is still loading."
Minute 8:35

Part 2 is the same vid as in my op, only with better quality and in HD.

About Killzone 2, yes Killzone 2 looks phenomenal, no doubt! But Crysis's scale makes Killzone 2 look like a corridor shooter! Also, we don't know if Killzone2 Engine can render a Forrest.
Killzone2 and Uncharted aren't open world games!

Well, like i said, this is just a Tech Demo, an unfinished Product, and yet it looks much better than the majority of all games on PS3.

We should be thankfull and not doubtfull! Finaly, some 3d party dev who spend time with the ps3 and the results are amasing.

I'll be doubtful until I see a good game come out of it, then I'll be thankful (in so much as they might get my money)

You're not entirely getting it..Killzone 2 is technically the best FPS, yes, it doesn't have the best FPS, AA, AF, rez, or textures, but it has the best lighting, physics, etc, etc in the FPS genre. Crysis 1&2 might 'look' better than KZ2 but KZ2 trumps Crysis and will do the same to Crysis 2.

Here's another thing, 'looks' are debatable, but 'technicality' isn't. So while Crysis 2 might look better than alot of games it doesn't necessarily mean its technically better.

I immediately noticed some of the issues like texture popping, but all in all I'm still quite impressed.

What really got me was the lighting. That looked great.
