South Korea Take Off: Director's Cut & Gold Wing

http://www.k2dvd.com/shop/p_detail.a...cation=&genre=
Found this on k2dvd. Definitely getting it. The Runtime is 275 minutes? That can't be right can it?

Also, does anyone know anything about Gold Wing? Kind of reminds me of Voltron. Think it'd be worth getting? I can't seem to remember this from my childhood in Korea.

I think it's about the first Korean national Ski-jumping team or something. It's a top grossing film in Korea though.

I'm really considering getting both of these now. Even the cartoon. It seems like a nice piece of kid history to get my hands on. I have a feeling it'll be a hard to find item later on.

Take Off was a decent movie...touching at times...funny at times...8/10.

I believe it was based on a true story.

I'm not expecting anything amazing. I'd figure it'd be something close to Voltron or Galaxy Express...

You have to set your bar really, really, really, lower for this one, much lower...

Did you receive your copy of Goldwing? Curious how it was and the PQ considering it is older animation.

Ok, so here's the deal on Gold Wing. I wouldn't get it unless you were a hardcore...and I mean, Hardcore fan of Korean animation. You see, before the move starts you get this introduction that tells you that the original print of the film was lost during some sort of export. So in return they released this bluray under the rush print version of the film. Everything that can go wrong with film is pretty much in this. Tons of blips and scratches in this print. Even the audio is off a lot. It's really a big mess. The thing is though, this is probably the only copy of this movie in it's original form there is. However, they did also include the dubbed English version as well. It's in 480p, but the picture is better and the audio is even synced better. For a product of the 70's this film doesn't hold up well at all. If you're a fan of super cheesy old school cartoons like the original Speed Racer or maybe even old Japanese stuff like Gatch Man or Voltron or Taekwon V or something then you might like this. It's just got that vibe to it. Ultra cheesy, ultra low budget...yet a classic in it's own right. Like I said, this is more for the hardcore Korean animation fan.

However, Take-Off is definitely worth a buy I think. They did a phenomenal job with this movie. PQ/AQ is excellent and it's just a great movie.

Again, to reiterate...Take-Off is excellent. I nearly cried towards the end. It's inspirational and moving and sad all at once. It's really like the Korean version of Cool Runnings...except on skis. I'd say it's definitely worth a buy. Makes me want to go out and learn to ski jump.

It appears that this movie was re-released in a non first printing kind of way similar to some of the CJ releases according to k2

http://www.k2dvd.com/shop/p_list.asp

Is anyone able to comment on if this is the same as the first printing? Does it come with a slip?

Thanks

For some reason Take Off is one of my most watched blus, it is just so entertaining and fun. There is a Hong Kong and Taiwan release out there and I was wondering if anyone knew if the extras on those releases have English subs, thanks.
