Default Thank you FOX - you saved me a lot of money

well i have to admit i had been supporting HD DVD at this point mainly due to price of the hardware, I was waiting for prices of Bluray drives to come down so i can support both formats. right now i use the X BOX 360 drive to play the HD DVD movies on my computer, i have purchased many HD DVDS and i backup the movies i own on my computer and play them from the HDD "i will not buy a disk i cant back up! ", which leads me to this, i was ready to jump in to Blu ray now that the prices have been coming down, but now that FOX is using BD + ( an anti consumer move) imo you want to make these new formats as consumer friendly as you can, not making it more difficult and i cant be supporting a format that i cant backup and that i dont have to worry whether or not my equipment will play back new movies. I really wanted to support Blu Ray but while i was waiting for the prices to come down i did get alot of negitive vibes about Blu Ray but not anything that would have stopped me from supporting them, up until now so once again thank you FOX you saved me alot of money, i buy alot of movies but they wont be Blu Ray's when will they learn its not HD DVD vs BLU RAY, but HD & Blu vs SD DVD

I'm sorry you are upset at Fox's attempt to keep you from pirating their movies. "Back up" sure.

Why do you need to "back up" your movies? Are you worried about them being damaged? You have to really try hard to damage a blu-ray disc. BD+ is trying to eliminate pirating. Pirating is the bane of the home video industry. All BD+ is trying to accomplish, is making sure that you own a liscenced Blu-ray movie, not a 5cent China copy. BD+ is most likely not the reason why these new Fox releases will not play. This has been discussed here on this forum ad naseum this week.

Also, if you are not a blu-ray owner/supporter you will not find anything benefitial here. If you do post, do not instigate because we do not appreciate trolls.

It's a shame to see your decision. However, there is no reason to backup a blu-ray because you can practically take a belt sander to the disc and it won't skip.

Keep an open mind, because there are a lot of good movies in the blu-ray stable.

I guess I don't understand why you are here, and why you posted this. In case you are unaware....this is www.Blu-ray.com . I am pretty sure that HD DVD has a site that "is good enough"(Just like their format) for you to go and post things like that. Also, with your other post(as there are only 2 at the time of this post)...have been pro HD DVD...with a hint of Xbox....which leads me to beleive that you are...a troll...fanboy...whatever else you are going to be called in the coming moments. Thank you for wasting our time...goodbye.

Call off the dogs there buddy. Blurip is on notice right now, but he hasn't started any trouble yet. Let him prove what worth he has.

So your upset because you can't copy your Highdef discs?

Sorry, your not going have ANY stuido shed a tear much less Fox. Fox has been the loudest about getting that BD+ out there. It's why they stopped releasing titles temporarely.

With BR having scratch resistant coatings what else do you want? They are not going to allow software to be able to rip their movie directly without their consent. Although I loved to "backup" my DVD's, the losses from stuidos would be huge if people for instance just rented a movie and copied it. Stuidos make a lot of money so I'm sure people don't care when they whine about the money they lose but I can understand why they try to prevent the ability for any average joe to copy their highdef movies.

Thumbs down Get lost!

I can see that you are one of the cheapskate/pro-piracy crowd that flocks to HD DVD.

Fox (and other movie studios) have every right to protect their content as they have invested millions of dollars in capital to create these films and TV shows for our enjoyment.

And no, you do not have the right to rip (and burn = steal) so you can play them from "back-up" copies.

And don't bother coming to our site because you won't get a very warm reception with your attitude. Get lost.

So you are not supporting BluRay because you can't make copies? That's just dumb. What are you going to do IF Blu-Ray becomes the industry standard and you HAVE to buy Blu-Ray? Why don't you be a little more objective instead of just saying "oh i can't copy it, now I don't want it". What a totally mindless homer attitude that is...... Do you really think HD-DVD wants all their stuff copied? No way..They will do everything they can eventually to protect their copyrights as well. Just wait, as usual though, Blu-Ray is ahead in the game.

I know EXACTLY how you feel!

When I found out about HD DVD's bandwidth limitations, disc capacity problems, lack of lossless audio, the need to boil some discs to get them to play, the lack of CE support ....I said the same thing.

THANKS HD DVD SAVING ME THE MONEY OF BUYING A PLAYER AND HD DVD MOVIES!

I can now use that money to buy more BR movies.

you may be able to backup your movies today, but not in the future. hddvd is likely holding off on protecting the movies for now since the market is so small and it gives them an advantage (about their only one remaining) when comparing formats. you can bet in the future all disc media will be protected. i think the smart move for hddvd owners today is to rent their movies. far less cost in replacing their hddvds with blu a year or 2 from now.

the username isn't exactly subtle though.

blu r.i.p.?

yeesh. if they were coming here for intelligent discourse, one would think they'd at least pick a name that's not vaguely offensive.

obviously you're pretty much looking for reasons to not go blu, so more power to you. enjoy HD DVD and your wonderful online downloads when HD DVD tanks.
