Default List of 7.1 movies? ... And does the PS3 play those?

The search function dies, when I enter 7.1 ...

I know there are few titles ... does anyone have a list of available/announced 7.1 BDs?

Also, does the PS3 play 7.1? (I believe I once read someplace that there's one audio-format it can't read correctly)

Thanks a lot in advance!

The PS3 plays them fine as long as you're connected via HDMI. There are only a handful of 7.1 movies out right now:

1. The Condemned 7.1 DTS HD
2. Waiting 7.1 PCM
3. Crash 7.1 DTS HD

There are a few more but these are the only off the top of my head.

Crank is 6.1 PCM
X-Men: The Last Stand is 6.1 DTS-MA

And I own Crash on BD and all it has is 6.1 DTS-ES discreet, unless there's been a reissue that I'm not aware of.

Also, the animated flicks:
Dr. Strange--7.1 DTS-HD MA
Ultimate Avengers--7.1 PCM
But the PQ is supposed to suck, along with the movies themselves...I can't speak from personal experience

Add Innocence: Ghost in the Shell2 to the list.

7.1 PCM, but Japanese only release.

House of 1000 Corpses and National Lampoons Van Wilder are 7.1.

Lionsgate seems to be at the forefront of 7.1 audio.

Thanks all, so far

Yes, I got a HDMI connection to my Onkyo 805 amp (the PS3 is set to PCM though, supposedly that's better than bitstream ...)

mmm I wonder - is there some sort of "demo BD", to try out 7.1 audio and perhaps other formats?

(Can't find any at Amazon.uk)

Thanks!

well, yes and no.

PCM is the only way you will hear lossless audio from the ps3 because it cannot send a lossless bitstream signal.

However, it may be ideal to set the ps3 to bitstream anyways, this way you can receive dolby ex and dts es tracks...then when you want to listen to dolby trueHD, simply press the triangle button in the movie, which will bring up some options...AV Settings

this will allow you to switch between LPCM and Bitstream on the fly.

Huh - thanks! Didn't know that!!! You are saying no DTS ES when on PCM?
