I am proud to say that i am officialy dropping HD-DVD

So I got a 360-add on for my birthday and i got these
1. King Kong-PQ was great terrible sound..
2. Goodfellas-never watched
3. Batman Begins- PQ was VERY soft
4. Bourne Identity- Kinda fuzzy at times
5. Bourne Supremacy- Actually pretty solid
6. Accepted- A good improvement over the DVD but still not amazing
7. Superman Returns- never watched
8. Heroes- watched disk one and two but all the rest did not work.. Looked like an upscaled DVD in most scenes
9. World Trade center- Looked pretty good
10. The 40 year old Virgin- looked like a crappy DVD but still damn funny
11. Next- meh
12. Top Gun- Amazing for an old movie
13. Jarhead- My fav HD-DVD title.. Pretty good PQ
14. Brokeback mountain (Shut up my GF wanted it)- Actually BEAUTIFUL!
15. Hot Fuzz- My most wanted title on HD-DVD, The reason i wanted an HD player... Did not work...

as you can see i had two shitty experiences when i have yet to have a bad time with BD. So I am just giving up HD all together... I may pick up Shaun of the dead to see if it works though...
So today I bought three Blu's to celebrate... I did not sell my player because it may be worth something when Blu has finally won

Shame to hear about all those troubles with HDDVD. It's a wonder, if many more people have those experiences, how that format is surviving at all. Some of the exclusives you listed i would LOVE to have, but if they dont work, what's the point, right?

I say thanks because every now and then I will have one of those moments where i think 'hey, the HD addon is cheap... would it really be so bad, just for those few exclusives?'

Good for you. The more that convert over the better and then we can have ALL of the movies in blu-ray with what we all hope is the best encodes that they can be without sacrificing quality over "just to get it out there in HD"

This is exactly why I keep my Laserdisc player. That puppy will finance my kidz collage at some point.

Seriously,.. You're doing the right thing cutting your losses. All HD DUDers should follow your lead but the value of anything HD DUD will plummet in short order. Next year they won't be able to give them away but you will see many promotions trying to do just that. There's lots of inventory of players and discs and they will try to pass these along to customers before there is no-one left stupid enough to buy them.
