Default Problems with security sticker residue, etc. on BD cases

OK... I hate the little stickers they put all over the cases... I got one today that had real sticky stickers that, even when I removed them, left a sticky residue all over the case... how can I clean this off without damaging the case?

Use a hair dryer and heat glue and remove and use windex to remove

as for the security stickers, i use a knife to split it where the case opens and closes. once i open it, the seal is obviously broken and it is real easy to peel off.

i personally use my gerber airframe (like swatting a fly with a bazooka) but it works great. im sure a paring, steak knife, or razor blade would do just as well.

I was talking about the black magnetic tabs that when you peel off leave a mirror silver like stripe still attached with superwelded glue, then to take that off sometimes a nail starts to separate. I shoud sue a la MacDonalds!

Perhaps grabbing one of these to open up the jewel box:

As for the sticky residue, WD40 and about a 5 minute wait should be enough break down the gum for an easy clean up.

The citrus goo removers work ok for goo removal.

I seem to have a talent for ripping off the 'asset management' tags though.

The ones with silver are not as bad as those ones with the spirals of metal that are like 1.5 inches square

If you have a girlfriend or female roomate or spouse, etc., nail polish remover works really well.

I usually don't have an issue with those. Probably because since it's hot where I live the glue has a chance to melt a little on the way home.

Default  Security Seals rant

Does anybody know of a safe way to get those damn things off without destroying the case? I'm having a really hard time with some of them. BHD even left a sticky resedue all over the see through plastic. I don't want to use rubbing alcohol or something, as I'm pretty sure it will mess it up even more. Wouldn't ONE seal be enough just at the top where there is only the hard plastic? The rest is just a plain pain.

I have a really small razor blade I can use or even the tip of some ordinary scissors. Just a little care and finesse and she comes off nice and neat.

I feel your angst. I hate those things, too.

Yeah they suck. Orange oil goo removers are good for removing goo.

But be careful not to get any on the paper inserts.

I recently had to use Goo Gone on a Blu-Ray case... (Lionsgate, I'm looking at you!)

They need to come up with a better solution. Believe me, I know the feeling as I've had to deal with quite a few DVD cases that had this problem. Most of the times, it's breeze.

It's funny that the cases already come completely wrapped up, yet they have to stick at least 3 (THREE) bloody security seals on the cases...

I mean come on guys, isn't the security device enough...? I'm sure the buzzers will go off if you try to steal it...

If somebody's going to steal it, I don't think a small peice of tape will stop them.
