Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, Britain’s premier masters of the macabre, bring the Horror of Dracula to vivid, full-color death in this retelling of Bram Stoker’s spellbinding vampire tale. Dracula (Lee), a centuries-old Transylvanian nobleman damned to an eternal half-life, regularly finds new victims. He also finds Dr. Van Helsing (Cushing), a scientist who becomes the Count’s implacable foe in a deadly game of bat-and-mouse. This is the UK version titled “DRACULA”, and featuring footage previously restored by the British Film Institute and Hammer Films. Warner Archive’s new release restores the original color palette of the film, using dye-transfer Technicolor prints as reference, and has been meticulously cleaned of film-related damage for a superior presentation

The dread is here – as are the power and pathos of this genre landmark by which Hammer Studios ushered in a new era of screen chills from classic evildoers. Tremble through that era again. Unleash the horror.
Also new on remastered DVD!

Surprised this is coming from WAC (was hoping for a collector's edition) but still great news nonetheless. Easily among my Top 5 Hammer films.

No release date but I guess it's common for WAC to just announce a title and then provide a date later on?

Will be interesting to see the original colors. What are the odds they will be labeled revisionist for not looking like an incorrect DVD master?

It is, and with the current replication bottleneck they probably want to avoid listing dates prematurely that may need slight delays.

DRACULA A.D.1972 and THE SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA just saw release and now HORROR OF DRACULA and DRACULA: PRINCE OF DARKNESS next month? Nice!

I would have liked some supplements (and a BD-50) but I'm still damn glad to finally see HORROR get a domestic release on Blu. I'm liking that cover art as well.

It's been like a long journey through the Carpathians, but we're nearing the end of all the Hammer Dracula films arriving domestically on Blu...just waiting on you, SCARS OF DRACULA!

Magnificent! To get both Horror of Dracula and The Thing From Another World in December is beyond words...
Can't wait for the official specs. I wonder how this will compare to the excellent UK release? A brand new scan that includes the uncut scenes from the Japanese print. Nice way to finish a great catalog release year.

Do you know how many amazing-looking 50GB Blu-rays have the feature weigh in at 25GB or under while retaining dome of the other 35GB for extras and stuff like language tracks?

Dracula is a short film and the only extra listed is a trailer, a 25GB disc for this is perfectly reasonable and the most sensible option.

A company could produce the same master on a 50GB disc utilizing more space, but that would mean nothing if their encode wasn't up to scratch for example.

In the last two months, I’ve purchased those OOP Popeye DVD Volumes and I’ve imported Horror of Dracula. Today? WAC continues Popeye and brings Horror of Dracula home.

I really think I deserve credit for this.

But I’m super pumped. My favorite screen Dracula? Quite possible!
