making a pro-Blu post there or at AVS is like holding a firecracker in your hand and asking people if they've got a light.... just asking for flame.

Reading some of the posts over there it seems the ONLY reason why people bought HD DVD is because of price.

There is two ways you can go in the format war:
1) You buy HD DVD because it is cheaper. Drawback you lose PQ and AQ
2) You buy Blu-ray for 100 dollars more and get the best PQ and AQ.

Looks like most of them are "it's good enough" supporters. Like that $100 is just too much to spend to get it even better.
They always say things like "It looks great, it has 5/5 AQ!" etc.. when the reviewers are HD-DVD fans anyways and since they are already biased, you can never convince them BD is better cause they prolly wouldn't know the difference anyways.
They are mostly kids anyways who got their parents to buy the HD-DVD add-on. They don't earn the money, their parents do.

Plus when they bring up that HD DVD is getting steam it is stupid. They nelson study has SHOWN that blu has kept it's around 2:1 sales lead even AFTER paramount when HD DVD exclusive? Wouldn't you think that IF a studio dropped support for one of the formats it would at least pick up a bigger chunk than 1% a week here and there?

And the real expense - buying movies is the same!! By the way, looking a BB's site yesterday, the only Toshiba unit available was the $400 one - net savings = $0.

HD-DVD was obsolete the day it hit the market.

And with AQ and PQ getting better that means it will take more space....where the hell is HD DVD going to find that?

Yeah, I just posted here as a "newbie" telling my story of why I chose Blu-ray over HD DVD. Even though I'm somewhat new to this, I've been lurking long enough to know about HDD and AVS; that's why I chose to post here first.

yep it's true. I'd say about 80% of the HD-DVD fans I've talked to bought HD-DVD players due to cost or the fact that a specfic movie they liked was only available on HD-DVD... both reasons are very short sighted and ignorant.

Not because i support Blu-Ray, but out of all those web sites, this is the most relax and informative site. Everyone over there is very upset.

So far, there are no must have movies on HD-DVD. King Kong would be nice, and even Transformers. They are not must haves by any stretch.

The Bourne Trilogy is probably the best of the exclusives. The very best in thrillers and action genre.

They have a few so far this year. But nothing compare to what is waiting for us. I find it amusing they act like movies like simpsons or die hard arent all that, when in reality they must be jeolous as hell.
