Problem with "The Burning Plain" not playing?

Sorry I don't remember if this is the right forum for this, but does anyone else have a problem with The Burning Plain not playing?

My main player is a Sony BDP-S350, when I put it on I just get a black screen and the timer stays in 0:00:00 and nothing happens whatsoever. When trying to play it on a roommate's laptop, we can get as far as the menu screen, but when you press "Play Movie", nothing happens, the screen flashes and we're back in the main menu, but the selector is gone and there's nothing to do.

Oh, the same problem happened with two copies so far - the first disc I got from Netflix, and then EXACTLY the same thing with the replacement they sent.

Try to find someone with a Playstaton3 to make sure and then see if you can exchange it.

If it keeps happening, you might wanna call Magnolia or atleast google the problem.

Retail stores can't do much about problems like this. If you are in range of their 30 day return policy, the best they will do is exchange it for the same title.

Good luck though...that is a frustrating problem to have.

Sounds like a firmware issue. If the disc itself was a problem your friend would not have been able to get to the menu.

Thanks, Lucy, but this was a rental from Netflix, and I already returned it once.

kpkelley, well it's interesting that on both drives, the disc just wouldn't play. What can I do about a firmware issue on my player? I checked to see if it was updated and it is.

I have the same problem. I have a Sony BX-1, which is the same player as the S350, but from Costco. The firmware is updated to the current version, so if it's a firmware issue, there isn't a fix for it yet. I don't have any other Blu-ray player to try it on, but The Burning Plain disc I got from Netflix doesn't load properly and the display just reads zeros. I got a replacement disc and it does the exact same thing. All the other Blu-ray discs I've tried play just fine.

I contacted Sony eSupport (the site where you check for firmware updates) and you should contact them as well. The more people that complain about firmware issues, the more they will be inclined to come out with a fix that will be in the next update.

I had the same problem with "The Burning Plain" blu-ray DVD. Purchased it twice and would not load in player. Both were brand new copies. All other movies I have load just fine. I have an LG Blu-ray player so it's not just sony players having this problem. I sent an e-mail to Magnolia Home Video and am waiting for their response.

Wow, this sounds serious. For it not to play on the Sony S350, looks like some very funky issue here. I wonder if this will work on my Sony S360. I don't have this disc but won't be surprised if it doesn't play as the 350 and 360 players are practically the same.

I guess I'll have to try it on my PlayStation 3. If that doesn't work, I'll have to wait. I plan on buying a Blu-ray 3D TV and Blu-ray 3D player someday, so I'll watch it then.

It may be a stupid question, but

[Show spoiler]do all 3D players support 2D films and DVDs? I'm going to also assume that 3D TV's have a button that enables 3D capabilities.
