HDDCP vs HDMI for ps3? - Blu-ray Forum

Hi, i sold my old tv that had no HDMI ports and only 1 HDDCP port.
I was previously ising a HDCCP to HDMI cord.
The new tv i want has 2 HDMI ports and 2 HDDCP ports.
should i buy an HDMI to HDMI cable for my ps3 or does the picture quality not make a difference?

There is no HDDCP or HDCCP. There is however HDCP.

HDMI is a audio/video/data delivery port. HDCP is an encryption method that is used with HDMI. A HDMI port can exist with or without HDCP.

I think you're thinking DVI.

An HDMI cable is basically a: DVI (video) cable with digital sound, all in one cable.

Assuming you meant DVI, or not, your PS3 has an HDMI output (with HDCP) so all you need is to make sure your new TV has an HDMI input with HDCP if you want to use it. Then you'll connect them with an HDMI cable (look on monoprice.com for inexpensive ones)

If you were using a HDMI to DVI cable with your PS3 and TV before, and your new TV has a DVI input (with HDCP) you could use that too for the video.
