PS3 will use HDMI 1.3

The PS3 website has been updated with specs. The lower end model will not have HDMI and the higher end model will have HDMI, but not HDMI 1.3. For sound quality it will have Dolby 5.1

Well i guess it really doesn't, it just states that it will use HDMI so I am assuming at this point there are no plans for HDMI 1.3, but this could change.

So, in essence. the PS3 WILL be doing HDMI 1.3.

Only Dolby Digital 5.1, huh? That sucks, because even Dolby Digital Plus is a marked improvement over DD5.1.

It says DD, DTS, LPCM, etc.
It will support DTS-HD, Dolby True-HD and PCM in multi-channel format.
The 60GB version will support HDMI1.3

Will the PS3 play Blu-ray disk at 1080i thru reg componet cables or ONLY HDMI?

I thought once I read blu and HD DVD will only play thru HDMI?

it will play on component only if the ICT flag is not set on the disc. afaik, the earliest that will occur is 2010 which will give most people enough time to purchase an hdtv with hdmi and hdcp. once it isset, it will downconvert to 540i (maybe 540p can't remember)
