www.t3.co.uk says that PS3 will use the new HDMI 1.3 standard, which is twice as fast as the previous. Apparently this means that games and movies will be rendered to an HDtv much faster than expected so the quality will be the best it is currently possible to output.

Yup, sound sweet. Most likely a main reason for the PS3 delay.

Originally, the typical cycle was going to happen where the Japanese would have gotten the PS3 first in late spring, early summer, the West would have gotten it in November like they're going to anyways. Now, instead, everyone starts getting it November. |

Sony made it clear to everyone that the ps3 will launch in November of this year. If Sony puts the HDMI feature in the ps3, that would be another reason to get it. The only thing that I'm concerned about is how many ps3's Sony will be able to make prior to launch. They have never done a global launch before. I hope we don't have a console sortage like Microsoft did last year for the X box 360. Sony will have to see how many preorders come in prior to the ps3 launch.

I guess the best thing would be to preorder as early as possible. On the bright side, the high price will be the biggest obstacle for most people. We'll have to see how Sony will do the ps3 launching.

![]() I'm not sure whether a lot of kids will be able to get their mommies pay $600 for a proper gaming device... I hope for Sony they will invest a lot in advertisement. Last edited by thunderhawk; 06-26-2006 at 07:25 AM. |

On the flipside, the PS3 can play every game on the PS2 and PS1, whereas the 360 could only play select Xbox titles.
And parents get freaking insane during the holidays. I swear, with some of these parents, if their kids asked them for a Lear jet they would get one. |

But this time Sony gets a real contender with the Xbox360, so it will be that much harder for Sony to gain the leading role. Their Marketing really has to shine like it often did in the past. |

Come on now... I'm 35 (36 at Christmas)... I want that PS3 for myself! Blu-ray plus some fun gaming... I hardly need my 2 year old son to beg for it! Really, the numbers show that the gaming community is not a bunch of 5 year old kids as so many uninformed continually say. I'm not even sure where they get their numbers from. The gaming community is a lot older - the majority being high school and college students. Those who live at home, but have jobs to buy things on their own.
I know when I was a teenager, working 20 hours a week, and buying myself things, I sure as heck got sick of old farts giving out the 'mommy and daddy buying it for you' speech. I worked, saved, and bought on my own. Let's not forget that there are a good deal who will be doing it that way - and a good deal who have parents who have the cash and resources to happily provide for their children. |

I know for a fact that Sony wants to avoid a console shortage. The question becomes if Sony will have enough materials to make a million ps3's per month. They have said that the cell will be made smaller and cheaper to make. They are taking a huge risk by doing a global launch. I understand that they want to get ps3's out for this year. I feel that $600.00 is a lot, but I was reading numerous articles that said that the ps3 would be the most exspensive console of the next generation, however you think about what you can do with a ps3, and the price justifies it, I think. I know for a fact that I will preorder the ps3 the first chance that I get.

yeah at 50 bucks a game the console is only 6 games or at like 70 bucks a game for xbox360 doesn't make the console look too expensive when it can play blu-ray as well as games.

Yeah, I'm just wondering if Sony can ship out 1 million consoles per month. Nintendo wants to do the same thing though. Time will tell.

Video games have always been a lot. Even back to the days of the Nintendo 64, games were at least $40.00 as I remember or $50.00. PS3 games will be just as much.
