Default The Most Reliable HDTV = Flat Panel Display?

I wasn't sure if anyone had posted about this yet but it's interesting if it is in fact true.

Side Note: I do agree with them though on the overall picture quality of DLP, however.

i think this is true. i am not buying a RP tv again. i have had 3 of them up to present time and my first one was ok (sony 42 inch), then i bought my first HD tv about 3 years ago (samsung dlp) they replaced 3 light engines in it first, then they gave me my choice of a new tv. so now i have the one in my sig and it now needs a light engine. plasma here i come!!!!

If you read the study, the reliability has to do with the bulbs dying

Something to be expected.

LED DLP takes care of the problem

My LED RP is on its original bulb after 4 years, and I watch a lot more TV than I should.

Not bad for DLP with all the moving parts. I still love my a2000, WD HD CRT (It did died one time but got it fixed free), my LCD is ok but the hdmi port is broken on it & the 'blacks' SUCK.

My next 'tv' is going to be a Front projector (Sony VPL-VW60 AKA The Black Pearl) with a 90" screen & turn my 3rd bedroom into a dedicated HT room.

Most reliable TV: Any TV that you buy at Best Buy and get the 4 year service warranty, with the option to renew it for another 4 years.

So basically I know I'll have my TV for another 7 years. And I also know that something will go very wrong with it by then and if they can't fix it you get the newest model.

When OLED debuts in the States, that has a good chance of becoming the all-around best HDTV.

My first Plasma was a Panasonic which I have been using now for about 6 years. I used it everyday since and the picture is as good as the day I brought it home. So I guess I didn't need that REALLY expensive extended warranty after all.

DLP's are the worst as that "replacement bulbs" always comes up in conversation. Never get a DLP without extended warranty.
Most name brand plasmas and LCD's should last a long while, maybe even 10 years which is the basic life of most TV's. Those non-name brands are riskier.
