United Kingdom What's the deal with LOTR: EE price?

I've been waiting for it to drop in price, but I've noticed it's climbed up to nearly£50! what's up with that...?

I was thinking about getting it, but not at that price.

What's the deal with being sarcastic...? just a simple question.

I'm sure a mod will merge this thread.

The set is expensive, especially compared to the theatricals, but you are getting all the extra content & better transfers. Around £16.66 a film isn't too bad.
Its a shame they didn't include the extras on a couple of Blu-rays in SD, instead of the 9 DVDs but at least you get the extra features discs from the extended DVD set & the Costa Botes documentaries.

The set has dipped down to £30 a couple of times, but usually springs back up to £40-£50

EDIT: By the way my purchase of the set, at £45, was softened as I traded in a few dusty 360 & PS3 games. So only ended up paying about £24.

It was £30 quite quickly too. I managed to snag one from Tesco's with Clubcard vouchers for £7. Which made me a happy camper. The set was well worth seven quid as the quality is superb. All we need now is a re-issue of the Fellowship theatrical!

And I need The Two Towers theatrical to complete the set.

I got mine from Zavvi with a 10% discount for £40.46. More than happy with the price

I have the DVD equivalent, but never watched it, as I was never in the mood. I'm glad that the first time I will see them will be in glorious HD

Yeah I constantly keep tutting at the price in my head while browsing Amazon. Over £15 per film is just madness really. Especially as X-Men Quadrilogy/Alien Anthology seem to dip to as little as £10. I can't justify it. If I have to wait 5 years then so be it.

Probably the first EIV release that hasn't had its price drop like a stone.

I was very happy with what I saw at the cinema, & bought the theatrical box for £12, with the added bonus that part one isn't all green!

Fair play, but I think that green thing might have been blown out of proportion. I'm happy with all the movies in the EE, picture and audio-quality wise.

maybe they are keeping it around this price until the hobbit comes to the big screen and then they can shoot the price of the boxset up even more

Since this is WB, I wouldn't be surprised one bit if this were true...
