Default Turok Devs have troubles getting 1080 (upscaling)

Juan,

Sorry I took a while to get back to you, but I needed some time to understand the issue with the tech gurus on our team. We are actively looking into what it would take to add this functionality. Unfortunately it isn't a simple change as it has a couple of major implications. First of all, since we would be upscaling a 720p image to 1080p, the image would appear slightly stretched and may have some minor visual artifacts. The bigger issue is with memory usage, which would increase as we would need to use a 1080p backbuffer. Since we are already maxed out on VRAM due to our texture detail, we may have to start carving away detail to get the game to run at this resolution.

I can't speak for the Uncharted team, because I don't know what they are doing with texture sizes/variety and memory management. We're still looking for a solution, but that's the situation as it stands today.

This is definitely about the PS3, as the dev was saying he didn't know what the Uncharted team was doing differently than they were - Uncharted being a PS3 exclusive title.

Again the constraints of cross platform development. This is a PS3 and 360 title. First Party PS3 titles blow everything else away from a graphical standpoint, but Sony is preparing a new set of tools and will be having Naughty Dog sit in on some training sessions for these 3rd parties

are they willing to use the HDD? im sure the uncharted devs used this as a tool, but being a multiplat game I think a lot of devs neglect the PS3s HDD, due to the fact that the 360 version can't have it be mandatory.
