Default Sales for PS3 40g model 1st week sales? Any guesses?

I bet SONY will sell between 300,000 to 450,000. Thats a heck of a lot more than the so called 90,000 HD-DVD players that Toshiba discounted to compete with the PS3 40g.

What do you guys think the sales of the PS3 40g will be?

I find that hard to believe especially when the XBOX360 sold about 525,000 units in North America during the month of Halo 3, which was slightly above the Wii at 500,000 units.

Hopefully for the month, the PS3 will hit around 300,000

they usualy sell around 85k-100k per month don't they. I would guess first week at $399 sales would be closer to 50K-75k tops

It's hard to believe MS actually sold 525,000 defective units during that month.

World wide hey HE may not be that far off..in france already 100,000 sold
and in JAPAN 37,000 TO 50,000 is the reported sales in 1 day so who knows
that still does not include the US sales..nor the sales in the UK

This might not mean much but I routinely look on Amazon.com (twice a day) and check the top 100 video game sellers and the 80 gig version has consistantly been several notches above the 40 gig version this past week. I think the 80 gig might sell more than the 40.

That would be great with the $100 discount on the 80g and the new 40g released last week the sales are sure to be more than the PS3s average 100,000 plus a month

Looks like the VGCharts numbers for North America the week ending 11/10 (I think that's the first full week of the 40g model) just got posted:
wii: 192,482
360: 173,895
PS3: 63,788

These numbers are quite alarming to me as even after a $100 pricedrop the PS3 is still being outsold in America (I think it's doing better in Europe and Japan) almost 3:1 by the 360 and more than 3:1 by the Wii

what can Sony do to turn this around?

If those are correct Im dissapointed the PS3 40g did not help sales out

I'm not sure how accurate the VGChart numbers are.

Looks like the 40g did increase PS3 sales some 10k from last week (from about 55k last week to about 65k this week), but it seems to be less of an increase than hoped for and doesn't seem to be nearly enough to catch the 360 or Wii, at least here in the US
