Default Dusty (filth-encrusted) PS3 Voids Warranty

At least according to this guy who is having some absurd battle with Sony. If this is true it is definitely ridiculous. Apparently his PS3 was too dirty to fix/repair, definitely read this. Read the comments, almost all Sony haters.

I love all this Sony hate on there. This is the first problem I have ever heard of with the PS3. Meanwhile the Xbox 360 has a 30% fail rate and somehow Microsoft is the better company?

I've seen some peoples places and equipment after one week of use and you'd swear they must be living in Beirut to gather that much dust and dirt. Some people are just pigs and if there WAS a voided warranty, you'd have to imagine that Sony would only do that if the dirt was SO bad, it clogged all the air flow and the unit suffocated. The three worst enemies of electronics in everyday use, are heat, dust and cig' smoke. You can't live like a frickin' pig and expect everyone to feel sorry for you by giving warranties when they shouldn't and replacing stuff you're too damn lazy to clean. Common sense unfortunately, is not learned, you're born with it. You either have it... or you don't.

Dust can easily be avoided in the internal compartments of the PS3. Buy a can of compressed air(which can be found at most stores for $3-$5) and blow through the vent holes once a week. I live in a dusty house and my PS3 has worked flawlessly since December.

Is it safe to use a compressed air can to blow dust out of the PS3?

Actually, that's what I do. I cover it with a towel every single day when it's turned off. I don't keep my PS3 in standby mode, I keep it completely off when it's not in uses.
