They showed this preview before Transformers. I wasn't paying too much attention and thought it was the beginning of Transformers.

Whatever it is it looks pretty cool. I might have to check it out once it comes out next year.

in one of the hidden videos on ethanhaaswasright.com, one fo the dates mentioned is something about "We only have until August 1st". So I'm hoping thats when the big reveal will be.

Apparently Paramount has the rights and are currently looking for ideas on both Godzilla and Voltron, but the reality of it being either of these two is getting less and less likely every day.

The latest rumor links it to being the US remake of the recent foreign horror movie "The Host"

Still others are calling it "The Parasite", and original monster movie.

The other sites apprently linked to the movie:

A giant monster movie (currently referred to internally as Cloverfield; the monster itself is referred to as "The Parasite", not to be confused with the film project The Parasyte) that is shot using home video cameras from the point of view of people who are experiencing an attack on New York City.

Cool Voltron? Redo of Godzilla? No one is talking.

Except that JJ Abrams stated that the only "real" website related to the film is the 1-18-08.com site. According to an interview that he did (sorry I don't have the link but search JJ Abrams new movie and you should find it) he stated that the other websites are not really related to the movie.

Rumor mills have mentioned the Voltron movie and another Godzilla movie. Either one would be cool with me if done by Abrams.

It really sounded like a lion roar before the Statue of Liberty head came flying by. Based on that evidence (insert sarcasm here) I am going with Voltron.

BTW, Transformers is going to look amazing on Blu. It's partially cheesy but it's really a well done take on the mythos. I wasn't even offended by Prime's new look. I LOVE that they got Soundscream in the movie, that was awesome.

Here's your monster... I'd bet $$$ on it. I hear that it's a Cthulhu.

You can hear in the preview, if you listen closely, that it "sounds like an animal", "looks like a lion, it's huge".

Sorry Godzilla fans. I think this will be waaaaaay better.

This is brilliant marketing, whatever it is.

I don't think anyone could make a Voltron or Godzilla movie without attracting serious attention. It's one thing to hide plot details or images of characters. It's another thing to hide an entire film from the public.

Either way, I'm looking forward to this.

I thought sounded just like the Godzilla roar (sheets of metal being dragged across each other). I can only hope! (Big Godzilla fan)

My vote is a Godzilla remake since the Roland Emmerich directed sucked as most his movies do. They really lack substance... For example; The Patriot is about the Swamp Fox Francis Marion, the story just doesn't fit the history of what really happened. His movies are too over the top. Independence Day has some great CGI, but the story could have been a lot better, same with Stargate...

Voltron Assembles for the Big Screen
Source:The Hollywood Reporter July 26, 2005

Veteran producer Mark Gordon has teamed with music producer Pharrell Williams, World Events Productions and producers Mark Costa and Ford Oelman to make a big-budget feature of Voltron: Defender of the Universe, the 1980s giant robot kids TV series and toy sensation.

The story being developed will be based on the series about five maverick explorer-pilots who must travel to the planet Arus to learn how to operate Voltron, a giant mechanical warrior formed by five smaller robots.

Released in 1984, Voltron: Defender of the Universe quickly skyrocketed to be the number one children's program in the United States. Merchandising rapidly followed and more than 100 different Voltron products were on shelves around the world.

You can learn more about "Voltron" at the official website.
