Default I wish more Blu-ray's came with a DVD

Hi everyone,

I am probably in the minority here but I wish more blu ray's included a DVD copy. My Disney blu ray's (with one exception) have DVD copies included and my first season of VEEP included dvd's . Actually VEEP was my first blu ray I bought before I even had a blu ray player. I still use my portable DVD from time to time so having a DVD copy would come in handy. I love my blu ray's but still watch some of my DVD's and like having a DVD copy included. If there is a big price difference for a blu ray that includes the DVD copy and one that just had the blu ray then I would go with the cheaper option. It doesn't really matter to me so much about digital copies (not even sure how to redeem them).
Do other people feel the same about wanting a DVD copy included with the blu ray?

Not me, I don't use them anymore. I used to like them so my family could borrow them, but in this day of digital copies, that works a lot better. I like that The Equalizer and many more movies are releasing blu/digital copy release only. I get the best release and my family just pulls up Vudu and watches it that way.

I agree. I like having them just to have them. I don't use them for anything but often i do lend them to family and friends. It's just one more thing that's nice to have.

I do as well. Makes the bluray a few dollars cheaper when I sell the DVD off.

I'm also a fan of having the DVD as well. I was really disappointed when criterion dropped their dual format sets, especially.

meh the DVD is kinda pointless unless you plan on selling it or giving it to a family member/friend

but i dont mind them being added...however i do hate that "Blu-ray + DVD" screwing up the art work

Unless it's a family/kids title I have no use for the DVD.

I don't mind them because of my 4 year old nephew. I let him use the dvd copy in the other room when he comes over. I like to be the only one to handle my blu's. That way if they get scratched or something, I'm the only one to blame.

I rarely if ever use the DVD but I like getting them. Doesn't make the movie any more expensive. So it's basically a free DVD copy.

Considering how temperamental my blu-ray player is (Panasonic 230), I'm glad when I have a DVD backup. At least they'll play without me having to unplug and re-plug the player about 10 times...

The only time I have used the DVD is when I was watching Prometheus at my parents' house. For some reason the BD froze about 3/4 through the movie. So I had to use the DVD to finish the movie.

Your blu-ray would already be a few dollars cheaper if it didn't include the DVD from the start.

I like the DVD's because they can be played in our factory DVD player in the car.

Those combo packs are what got me buying blu-rays in the first place, back in about 2008 or 2009. Helped smooth the transition.

Disney dropped the DVDs from UK releases and kept the price the same. Even if it adds a few dollars it gives you $10-15 extra content (much more if it's a TV season). Digital copies and DVDs don't really add that much more to the price. They just make the package more attractive to purchase. Unless of course they have horrible banners on the artwork!

I prefer to have a DVD copy in the same package. I do not get along with "Firmware Upgrades," and prefer to have a DVD included as a possible backup copy, should I need it.

Not in the U.S.

Guardians of the Galaxy - 19.99 for Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and Digital
Iron Man 3 add the DVD and price is then 24.99-27.99

That's just one example.

Disney is an outlier. Studios that have dropped DVDs have not made their BDs cheaper.
