Default HD70 Projector

Tried to do a search on this in here but couldn't find any info on this
My projector says on the box that it has a max resolution of 720p. Right now I have my setup through component to the projector. When I am watching sd dvd's the screen will splash for a couple of seconds what resolution it is displaying or what is being sent to it, with hd dvd it says 1080i, and with games and downloaded movies it says 1080p. Are all these resolutions being converted to 720p? The PJ also has an HDMI connection that I am saving for the PS3 and I am asking the same questions for the HDMI connection. I know there's a lot smarter people on this subject out there then me-I

I would have to assume, since the projector is 720p that it is telling you what it is downconverting from. For example if you have an HD-DVD player that only does 1080i, that would explain why it shows 1080i on-screen. It is the resolution of the media (due to the player) and it then proceeds to downconvert it to 720p. Same for Blu-ray player/movies.

Or......They put a 1080p projector in a 720p projector's box and you got one kick-ass deal on a 1080p projector!
