Talking Video of the PS3's (not final) GUI

Here's a cool video of the PS3's (not final) interface, showing a lot of the features:

I read that at the Tokoto Game Show, the interface for the ps3 couldn't be shown to the public. With about a month left, I thought that the interface would be done by now so that developers could work on online play, but that didn't happen. Phil Harrison said firmly that the interface for the ps3 couldn't be photograped or recorded in any way so there was no video showing the interface. It was considered a work in progress. Ken has made numerous statements that the online network would be up on day one of launch, but seeing that the interface isn't even done yet, has me wondering if Sony is still deciding on the theme that will be used or if Sony still has some kind of rights licence to work out.

I like it, a lot, but then I'm used to the ease of the PSP.

I thought the photo features looked good, but it was a shame it wasn't made clear which video formats the PS3 will play back.

The formats might be undecided as of now.

I think you mean video codec.

The way I figure it, apart from AVI, MPEG, MPEG-2, AVC and VC-1, every other video codec can be made to purchase seperately via the online feature. Should not costs users that much more to play Divx video for example (and the PS3 would hardly break a sweat playing Divx HD).

The reason is that unless it's already there as of TGS, these other video codecs would costs money for Sony to license. It may also costs time which Sony don't have. It is better to make the other codecs as an upgrade, rather than a part of a standard feature.
