Default How do I know I'm getting the US version when ordering a blu ray on Amazon?

I want to get the blu ray of That's Entertaintainment Trilogy on Amazon. The problem I am having is that a few of the revews have said when they tried to play the blu rays they found out they had the British version that was not region free. Amazon has this listed for 26.95 but I want to make sure I would be getting the US version and it doesn't mention if it's the US one (I didn't even know there was a British version). What does BF/BD mean? It says that right next to the title. Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.

That's funny.

The Trilogy in the UK is a US import.

(edit

It would help yourself if you'd read the "other region issues" is regarding PAL DVD. Not the "released only in the United States" Blu Ray. There is also the prior US and UK "That's Entertainment Blu Ray" released in 2008.

"Trilogy" is US only)

A lot of non-Amazon sellers use Canadian discs because they're identical 99% of the time. I have also received UK discs a couple of times, most prominently when I ordered the Lethal Weapon Collection, though I should have known it was the UK version because of the reduced price (despite being on the US version page).

The only way to know for SURE it's the US edition is to order from Amazon itself.

From personal experience, not even that is a 100% guarantee. Some years back Amazon.com shipped me the UK Godfather trilogy instead of the US one. They refunded me though so no big deal.

It does say it's shipped by Amazon but I realize that still might not mean it's the US version they will ship.

Us edition will not have the big rating logos. Usually is just region a too. Have also found out to cost more in most instances.

If you want to be sure, make sure you choose only sold and ships from Amazon,do not use 3rd party sellers, you never know what you may get just like Ebay were bootlegs run rampant. I have never had a problem with amazon shipping me the U.S. version unless i order from the U.K. or other.

No specifics here, but I've had some recent experiences with Amazon international third-party sellers. They will often claim that an item is "in stock" when it's only on order. Then, they will claim that your order has been "dispatched." In three recent cases, that was not the truth, and I never received the merchandise. I did receive refunds when requested, but these "sellers" obviously drew interest on my monies for several weeks before I requested my refunds.

These "sellers" were reportedly in the UK and Canada, but there's even doubt about that.

I haven't had any trouble with US-based third party sellers. I'm in the US myself.

It happened to me when I ordered Lost in Space last year from Amazon. I received the CA release, but it doesn't matter to me since it's the same disc.

For example, Amazon has the ASIN for the That's Entertainment Trilogy (Blu-ray) as B0090XG9T4; which matches the 2012 US Blu-ray release, as opposed to the 2007 US release (ASIN B000WC3AJE). I don't know anything about this set, so I don't know if the 2007 and 2012 releases are any different.

(To find the UPC, EAN or ASIN numbers here on Blu-ray.com, go to the overview page for the release you're interested in; just below the tab marked "overview" and just above the leftmost of the four screenshots is the Edit Movie button, which takes you to the uploaded disc specs for that particular release; the section marked Retail Information will usually have the codes I'm talking about. )

Oh, and as for the Amazon user reviews you mentioned: Amazon doesn't always distinguish between DVD and Blu-ray, and all the user reviews for both formats often get put together; but each review will usually be tagged with which format it relates to. The release you were looking at hasn't been released in the UK, and the negative reviews you were talking about were for DVD.
Thanks so much for all your information. I forgot that Amazon lumps all DVD and blu ray reviews together, thanks for reminding me.
