Default MAC FW Upgrade on Sam 1200?

Hi folks,

I can't get the MAC (OSX) to burn a useable disk for my Samsung BDP 1200. LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD won't play (haven't upgraded the FW since purchase in August).

I have the disk image sitting on my desktop -- what can I do to make this work where it won't F up my player?

If you have an Ethernet cable, I suggest connecting it to the player and do an Internet Update.

Also, if you have another Fox Blu-ray title, try play it until you get to the menu, then eject it and then try playing LFODH. This work around still might require the 10/2007 FW update though but it would be worth a shot on your current FW.

My player is about 50 feet from my router, so I'd have to go buy one of those anaconda cables. Trying to just do the disk.

What's the format of the FW update? And how are you trying to burn it?

I've unzipped a disk image to my desktop. I then burn that using the Mac OSX (I drag the folder into the CD and then click "burn").

Should I be burning something else or use a different utility?

I don't have a 1200, but try the following, let me know if it works.

1) Are you at the point where you have a .iso file?
2) Do not extract the .iso file, but leave it on your desktop
3) Open disk utility (in your Utilities Folder, which is located in the main Applications Folder)
4) On the left hand side of the Disk Utility window you should see a list of your drives. Below that you should see the .iso file
5) Select the .iso file and then click burn
6) Insert CD when asked
7) Insert CD into your P1200 player to update

If this does not work let me know and I will see what else I can find out.

By the way you made a great choice on both blu-ray and in using a Mac.

You should use the "Disk Utility." It's in /Applications/Utilitites/Disk Utility

After you've put a blank disc in the drive, open the Disk Utility. Then choose "Burn." Then select the image to burn.

Garak's right, img files only burn right using 'disk utility', it's useful program for other stuff too.

Also if you have the ISO file go the comand line and type

hdiutil burn XXXX_XX.ISO

replace the X for the name of the file

This worked, but the LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD load was awful. The PQ is great, though and the audio is some of the best I've heard on Blu.

Too bad the movie blew. DIE HARD is one of the greatest thrillers of all time -- what happened?

I have not seen it, so I can't say. I am glad you got your player updated. Enjoy!
