Default HDDVD strikes back...action needed!

I have been swamped with work and have had very little time to read online forums. However, it appears that earlier today the red camp added a massive BOGO sale of red titles to ensure that Bourne's week is red.

Contrary to what I have seen written here and elsewhere...that Rush Hour 3 and residuals would be enough to secure a win for us this combined effort from Toshiba and Co. to show WB that their format is on the rise is in my opinion very capable of producing a win for them.

I just want to make sure that people realize how much is at stake here, especially with recent rumors from prominent studio officials, and what could be won or lost. This is clearly a much more crucial battle than Transformers' week and one that would also be very telling as to Warner's future market decisions.

THIS WEEK...SUPPORT OUR FORMAT! Now...it counts more than ever!

With the Blu BOGO going on too, I hope lots of people will help by getting titles on the Blu BOGO. I agree with you, a lot is at stake these last weeks of December.

Actually the Blu BOGO ended up earlier tonight (midnight). So, all bets are off now!

A few titles ordered last week only shipped this week, and so did the HP box set. Plus, I also ordered RENT, which shipped yesterday; and I ordered more BOGOs yesterday. I believe that I've done my part.

There have been two Blu Bogos on Amazon in the last week. Amazon only make up portion of the numbers. JR had titles for $9.99. Panasonic are bundling BD players with their plasmas, Sharp were doing the same and Sony last week had a similar deal.

Just buy you BDs as you normally do and we should be more than fine.

I agree with the OP. This is crucial, more crucial than Transformers week. Us Blu backers stocked up big that week as TF was expected to do well. For some reason Bourne and the BOGO don't sound as significant, but IMO it is more so.

With HD-DVD having Bourne and a Warners BOGO, if they do well in the Nielsons next week it could give Warners a reason to go DUD exclusive. If Blu can keep the Nielsons 70+ in favour of Blu till xmas I believe Warners will go with Blu exclusively in Jan.

No matter what happens, this next week is crucial IMO and we need to buy big for the sake of Warners siding with Blu. I for one don't want to see HD-DVD get a good result next week to give Warners any reason to side with them.

I've ordered 10 discs. Come on peeps!

Its pretty much a done deal HD DVD winning the Bourne Ultimatum week. Its a perfect storm for them. With the Blu-ray side being BOGO tired out, HD DVD will win easily. Rare Amazon/BB HD DVD BOGO sale + Ultimatum = HD DVD win. Unless the BDA comes up with a 8-15 movies for free with purchase of a Blu-ray player at BB/CC/Target, I don't see Blu-ray winning this week at all.

Its not so bad. One week lost out of 52 will not make a bit of difference. See below:

if HP does SOOO well...how many people have enough money to buy an extra movie during a BOGO?

I am not worried...

people that go Blu in most cases know there is a war....but more people buying red just buy one and with all the titles they have for free...what do they exactly have to choose from to part-take in a BOGO?

is warner playing games with us? instead of researching the matter and finding a end to the format war, or what the best format is, this week could be the one to end it all for BD? why did Warner have that BOGO last week? I just don't like the idea of the entire format war riding on 1 week...

A man got to know his limits. I am just being objective man. Warner is going Blu-ray exclusive and one week lost is nothing.

here something of interest "December 11th, of course, is the day that The Bourne Ultimatum will be landing on DVD / HD DVD, but what you may not realize is that it will also be launching on VUDU. Granted, we've seen simultaneous launches before, but this is quite an eventful way for VUDU to get the ball rolling on its HD movie releases." this may some of the preasure off BD...
