Directed by Susanne Bier, Serena has no official US release date yet.

You should've mentioned how this thing has been in post-production for 2 freaking years now. Could be a dud.

But with these two stars being hot right now surely there'd be a good amount of interest in it. I'm shocked Weinstein hasn't picked it up.

It doesn't exactly have a story that will rake audiences in.

It could be good, but I'm with Spanky, 2 years is a long time to edit a film without an ending in sight. I've just got a feeling this'll be melodramatic and substance less.

It's not like it will be some 100 Million blockbuster, but could easily do 20-25 Million at the US Box Office with a wide release, IMO. Upscale adult audiences and mature young women do like to see movies too.

I've read the source novel, Serena by Ron Rash, and I'd love to see a faithful film adaptation.

The book is a lot grittier and intense than the premise would lead one to believe. It's quite bloody in parts.

The book wasn't very good. The problem is Serena is a psychopath and Pemberton ain't exactly likeable himself, so you're not really emotionally invested in anyone in the story. Plus the ending was like something out of a cheesy revenge movie.

That still doesn't explain the 2-year delay though. Even if the movie sucks, it should still be able to secure a distributor given the star power.

I'm no doctor but I am pretty that youth and attractiveness has no effect on whether a woman can get pregnant or not.

Eh, I like all sorts of things where there isn't a character I like. And the prospect of seeing Jennifer play a psychopath is definitely intriguing.

But yeah, I remember reading about this forever ago. I was really looking forward to it. And then the massive wait began.

Saw a trailer for this a few months ago, never even heard of it before then. It could be interesting, it could be a disaster, but seeing Jen play someone REALLY unhinged should be very interesting indeed...

This movie had a July 10th release date here in Portugal but it got pushed back to October 9th a couple of days ago.

It's crazy to think the director of this will have shot, edited and released a whole new movie between this being finished and this being release.
