Yeah, DrinkMore is right, I bought a few PS3s back in the day and all the receipts have the serial number of the unit on them so somebody else's receipt is not going to work for you.
When did you get it? If it is a legit unit, you could probably bring it to Sony or call Sony up and see what they can do for you. Sometimes based on your serial number, they might be nice enough to honor the warranty without the receipt. |

Most places ask for info (name, phone #, addy, ect) when you purchase those sorts of items... find out where they got it and get their general info and go back there. They will be able to look it up if the store took the info and be able to honor the warranty.

Costco just has an unlimited return policy, well had... They've since changed it to 90 days cause people were taking advantage of it I'd assume..

That's not necessarily true. I bought my Philips Blu-ray player on Ebay and registered it via Philips' website without the POP. While Sony maybe different in this regard, many companies will let you register their products without the POP.

[ clarity ] They require proof of purchase for warranty service. Registered products, well, I don't often work in the manner you describe. See, I can register a product 3 years after I actually buy it, warranty doesn't often go off that date. Now I have had companies go off the manufacture date before on registered products. Not saying some companies don't go that route, just saying the companies I've had to deal with, do not ![]() |
