In the Loop - Blu-ray Forum

I was just wondering if anyone's had a chance to look at Optimum's release of "In the Loop" yet? I'm planning on purchasing it, but since I'll be paying quite a bit for it (import) I just want to make sure there's nothing collosally wrong with it.

My copy arrived last week. I couldn't play it in my US OPPO hacked BD-83 player. I've been using the codefree region free firmware with success on all titles but this one. The BR title just spins in the loading mode and at times makes a loud whining sound. I thought it was a bad copy, so I had Amazon UK send another one. Same problem with the second copy.

I've order the hardware mod from JVB Digital, so I can continue to update my US OPPO firmware without worrying about if codefree will continue to provide the corresponding free firmware hack for the OPPO's updated firmware.

Has anyone with an all region player had success playing this title or is it OPPO related (which I suspect)?

I've been able to play Switchblade Sisters (Haute Tension) from the same studio without a problem.

Works fine with my LG BH 200 with its region hack.

I think there's a dodgy batch of discs going around, ala Optimum's Che. These tight-arse companies will insist on cutting corners. It's the same as the UK anime labels using shite DVD-5s for everything.

The disc span unusually fast in my PS3's drive, and made a very loud noise. You could feel the vibrations it was causing on the table the PS3 sits on. The film still played fine, despite the noise.

Matt: What you are describing is exactly what I am experiencing. With one exception is the OPPO doesn't end up playing it. I'll try it again after changing my region free hack from the free codefree firmware to the JVB digital hardware hack....then updating my US OPPO firmware to current version.

The was a HMV exclusive limited edition Thick of It + In the Loop 9 disc DVD set if that's what you're thinking of? Blu-ray I can't help.

I think I've got a pre-owned version that comes with a set of artcards. I know that's something Optimum used to do with HMV (my copy Submarine came with art cards as well, and that was from HMV.)

The site's database has an HMV exclusive listed is all. I imagine it was probably the art cards, which I'm not worried about.
