Arrow 2016 Hurricane Season Thread (Hurricane Matthew)

No matter if you live at the Gulf Coast, or even the Atlantic Coast. Someone will be impacted. This year they expect the tropics to be very active. It only takes one storm to change peoples lives.

I've given up even worrying about it. All I do is when one is a few days out board the windows and fill some milk jugs and 2 liter bottles with water. I grill a lot so I always have 2 propane tanks full and my trucks gas tanks are pretty much always topped off. I'm single so I'm always stocked up with canned goods and Ramen noodles. All I really have to do fill 3 or 4 5 gallon cans with gas for my generator. Can't go without my Blu-rays... or my beer.

You ever had a hurricane party?

If we are going to be hit by a hurricane this year these would be the names I want blasted all over TV every 5 minutes for two weeks straight. Igor and Otto.

Also Virginie? What hillbilly came up with that name?

No offense to any "mountain folk" on the forums.

I am actually wondering how and what reason they pick these different hurricane names. I know some hurricanes are named after the person that found it. What about the other somewhat awkward names?

I never thought I'd potentially see a Hurricane with my name(Colin)! Having said that, I obviously hope Tropical Depression/Storm/Hurricane Colin doesn't cause anyone harm, but it will be cool to see my name actually on the news.

I had a friend named Ivan, and we all yelled at him when Ivan came to Florida back in 2006. That was a major storm when it hit the panhandle.

Why did you wait two years to yell at him?
[Show spoiler]Ivan was 2004.

Here's hoping for another down season

We're good here in LA for another year if the trend holds. We get a double shot every three years though

We did yell at him during that time. It was during that time like you said back in "2004".

When weather people can actually PREDICT the weather and not make just as much of a guess as I can - then I will care. Until then, why bother - lol.

The weather is NEVER right when these people try to tell you. I wish I could have a job where I could be wrong 50% of the time and get paid for it.

You have a good point, but I'd hate to be one of the cities that lets their guard down when they say were not in the "cone, or path of the storm". Then 24-48 hours we are under a warning.

Damn MaCruz, I think you've just jinxed us Floridians by creating this thread. Now we're bound to have a major hurricane hit us this year. Thanks bud.

Well, I am not referring to the time where you have 5 days to see a storm is coming your way. If there is ANY question, GET OUT. Don't wait until the last minute. Obviously

Now I know ones coming.

Well, I enjoyed my time here. Nice knowing you all.

I think I'll take any warnings serious this year since we have now been officially jinxed.

I rather go through a hurricane than an earthquake!

Actually remember when Faye came in August 2008? We thought it was just another TS, with just heavy rain but then there were areas that were under water. I've never seen anything like it in person. If we can't handle a TS, how much more if a CAT 1 comes.
