Default PS3 image won't fit on TV

I've searched the forums and can't find an answer to my question.

The image from my PS3 is cut off on both sides (Left and Right) I only see a partial image. I'm using component cables, but I have a full screen TV.

Thanks for any help

you need to switch the display setting to 16:9 not 4:3

by "full screen" im assuming you mean 4:3?

anyways...

Settings - Display Settings - Video Output Settings

"7. Set the TV type.
Select the type of TV in use. Set when only SD resolution (NTSC:480p / 480i, PAL: 576p / 576i) is to be output such as when [Composite / S Video] or [AV MULTI / SCART] is selected in step"

from reading this, looks like you need to connect using the original cables that came with the PS3. Change to 4:3 (then try changing back to component...if it does not allow you to, then you may can only use composite/s-video instead)

Yes, I do have a Rear Projection CRT,

Overscan sounds likely, switching back to Composite makes it not fit again

I think it may have to do with Samsung. I have an older 26" CRT tube and my brother has a 19" LCD and we are both having this same problem.

P.S. Before the laughter starts because of the size of the T.V.s, they are bedroom sets.

What does Sammy say about this problem? Or have you even talked to them yet?

I think my TV does the overscan thing too. Sometimes subtitles will get cut off or just the image in general gets cut off.

I hook up with components because the my Sony TV has the DVI connection.

Is there any way to correct that?

I can only connect via Component, because my TV doesn't have an HDMI port. Nor does it have DVI
