Default Sony vs Samsung

I need to replace my bedroom tv and I can't seem to decide between Sony or Samsung and then which model to buy. Here are my choices:

Sony KDL-46V3000 or KDL-46W3000

Samsung LNT4665F or LNT4671F

I understand that the LNT4671 and 46W3000 are the more expensive choice as compare to their older models, but are their PQ really better? Kinda hard to tell since they are not side-by-side at the store.

What do you guys think? I need to pick one ASAP before the wife changes her mind.

I don't know about those models, but I have a 50" Samsung Plasma 1080p and love it!

I just purchased a Samsung LNT4671F a few weeks ago. WOW is all I can say. I have always purchased Sony televisions but I have to say the Samsung has a better picture at this time... This TV has a lot of options on it and is cheaper than the Sony XBR line. I would compare the 71 series to the XBR4 and XBR5... I have a PS3 hooked up and wow the 24fps is awesome... The sound is great... No complaints with this set...

honestly ive set the 71 and the 69 next to the xbr4 all day and the xbr4 is still better.
but the 69 and 71 are cheaper.

as for the OP

its unfair to honestly compare the w3000 to the 71f as the 71f is the xbr4 competitor.

Although on the same side the v3000 and w3000 would be considered above the 65F. all in all, for you the 65f would be a bottom buy, the v and w a mid and 71 a top buy for you, unless u jump to xbr4 and that would be ur best

That being said though, I wouldn't pass on the v3000 if you are a Sony fan...

Samsung is nice, I like my Sony's though...

Samsung 71 is the way to go...but please purchase 10.2 gbps capable monster cable no matter which TV you choose...otherwise, from what I learned from this website, you may be short changing yourself...

Just a response from a sales guy here.

The Samsung's I sell inevitably have some sort of problem within the first year.

The Sony's are generally solid units with an excellent track record.

I don't believe the two are made in the same plant. IF they are, then one gets a better quality control test than the other. Better quality control, in my book, equals a better TV.

Just my two cents here. As always... Your mileage may vary!

I have three friends in the past year that have returned Sammy's. I have one that has had no problems. It is just you NEVER hear about this with Sony.

I have owned my 46" sammy for 14 months, trouble free. I know four other close friends that own sammys, one owns 3, all lcds, all trouble free.

I love Sony products as well.

Funny thing is, at the Circuit City in Valincia Ca. had a Sony LCD on display with 3 rows of blown pixles out of the box. My buddy who sold me my Sammy told me they kept it on display to sell the extended warrenty on all the LCDs.

Of course this is not typical, but it happens, even to Sony.

We are actually looking to replace our Living Room tv with a bigger one. We currently have a Samsung 4065 which we plan to move and mount in our bedroom. We haven't yet made up our minds yet but are leaning towards the Sony 52xbr5. But either way your looking at the best 2 lcd companies
