Sunnuva... PS3 + Onkyo TX-SR804 = no 1080p

Anyone else have this issue?

Today (such a happy Blu day!) I got my brand new PS3 and I was so stoked! But wait! I have an Onkyo TX-SR804 receiver (which, until today, I LOVED), and after much frustration and Googling to solve an annoying flashing screen problem whenever 1080p was selected as the resolution, I discovered there is a known issue with 1080p and the 804.

Yuck.

From what I read on AVSFud... er... forum, Onkyo freely services any units that encounter this problem, so I put in an e-mail to their customer service, but you better believe I'm following up first-thing Monday with a phone call.

Until it's fixed, I am stuck with 1080i. Call me crazy, but I can tell the difference. It might just be psychosomatic, but hey...

I've actually debated that. I'd want the silver one (since that's what I have in the 804), and there are some good prices on that.

If I do not get a satisfactory reply from Onkyo on fixing the 804, then I'll probably go snap up an 805. Does 1080p work well on it with the PS3?
