i was just reading that George W. Bush is a part of a reptilian race that likes to eat human flesh.

Yeah, I don't know where you picked up that nugget of information. Onkyo says differently:
605 and 606 specs.

Go to the source when possible.

I think you might be referring to 1080p upscaling, which I don't believe they do...

They will pass 1080p/60 and 1080p/24. It will not up-convert 1080i or lower to 1080p but your BD player will so your ok!

Sorry to hijack this thread, I didn't want to create a new one yet considering my problem is sort of tied in with the question here... I'll post what I did on AVforums

"I'm having trouble with the 605 and 1080p... this is what I've done up to now...

Connected my ps3 directly to my 1080p display via HDMI, set the ps3 to 1080p, all works fine.

Connect the ps3 to the 605 via HDMI, then 605 to the TV via HDMI, switch the ps3 on and the TV reads out on the HDMI1 channel "Mode not supported". I change the ps3 to a lower resolution and it works fine, 1080i and below. HDMI monitor is set to YES.

Here's one strange thing for those interested... when I first switched the ps3 on it was in 1080p mode and I got the "Mode not supported" error, however, I left the machine on and it automatically started to play a blueray disc and suddenly the display started working. I cannot explain this."

Can anyone help me with this?

Sounds like maybe a handshaking issue? Try turning on your components in different orders, or maybe a new cable?

yeah, it sounds like a handshaking or cable issue to me. try using a new hdmi cable or two and see if the problem persists. maybe its a problem with one of your hdmi sockets?

Well all of my cables work fine if I connect the ps3 directly to the tv, and if there was a problem with the cables then surely when it's all going through the 605 all resolutions of 1080i and below just wouldn't work at all?

One strange thing is that my TV shows 1080i @ 60Hz when I set the ps3 to 1080i in the display settings, however, when I use this mode to run a bluray disc the tv mode shows 1080p @ 24Hz, even though the ps3 is NOT set to 1080p.

I have a Samsung LE46F86
