Default PS3 upconversion is astounding--a bad thing
I just popped The Kingdom on SD in my PS3 and the upconversion quality is incredible. Albeit it's a new movie with an inherently good transfer for SD DVD.
Compared it to the XA2 and there is virtually no difference in quality--especially edge enhancement.

That's very impressive.

But it can be a bad thing. If people pop in their SD DVD's and see the astounding quality of the PS3's upconversion, they'll be less inclined to buy BD
