The video looks very good, with visible film grain and coded VC-1. The color saturation is amazing, something the DVD could never produced.

It includes a DTS HD track in English and a commentary with Costner.

The bonus features have forced French subtitles and it's coded at 1080p 50hz so the extras will not play on your US player. No problem on my LG BH200 player and sent to my Sanyo Z2000 projector. It includes the Making of documentary a video diary from Costner, deleted scenes, historical journey to the men of the real open ranges, narrated by Costner.

No word if Disney will release this title anytime in '09. It had been on a early Blu-ray release list back in late '07 and early '08.

I've played the disc on my US PS3 and the LG setup for Region B.

I assume that the film itself does NOT have forced French subtitles?

Bloody hell!! Ordered it on Monday from Amazon.fr and it arrived today. That's quicker than stuff I've ordered recently from local UK stores.

Wow. Mine shipped before Monday and haven't seen them yet. My last disc from Amazon FR took a while.

MAJOR disappointment with this disc and Dances With Wolves. There is definitely some weird pitch stuff going on. Not as severe as some of the Studio Canal HD DVD's, but it is there. The instant I heard Duvall and Costner talk I knew something was up.

This one is a big buyer beware IMO. When I get some time I'm going to try and get an audio file of the two online. Dances is actually worse - I'll post about it in that thread.

I won't be buying anymore Fox Pathe Europa discs blind.

I purchased my disc when it came out in 2009.. within the last year my disc will not play at all. Machines will no longer read the disc. Any of you purchased this disc and it stopped working? Disc is clean and no visible signs of damage. Thank You

That disc is on the fairly long list of French-produced Blu-rays that were potentially made (depending on the batch) with defective resin. You probably got unlucky and bought one of those. If that's the case, nothing will bring it back to life, sorry to be the bearer of potential bad news
