This is one of my favorite movies of all time-does anyone know if it will be released on blu-ray?

I wouldn't doubt that it will get released sometime in the near future. After all it is a Sony animated picture. That should be a hint.

Open Range the western with Kevin Costner and Robert Duvall not Open Season the animated movie.

I hope Disney is seriously considering Open Range on Blu-ray. The scenes with Robert Duvall and Kevin Costner using the big "scatter gun" in the saloon and the thrilling climax gets me every time!

I'd be content if Costner would just make westerns the rest of his career. 'Silverado', 'Wyatt Earp', 'Dances With Wolves', and 'Open Range' are all great films. It's upsetting to see Europe get a blu, but no release here. Hopefully, we'll get it soon, along with 'Wolves'.

Open Range has a French release that came out earlier in the year. Sooner or later it will get a Region A release, you just have to be patient.

I would consider this my favorite western of all time. I could only hope this goes Blu soon. The scenery would be absolutely stunning and I would die to experience the gunfight, at the end, in all it's Blu splendor! Can we throw this on the fast track, please?

According to BD Region Codes it is region free, but it says some players will have issues with it if they don't support 50Hz.

I just picked it up last night locally... the French release that is. It's not region locked. Choice between French with English subs or straight english in DTS HD. PQ is not bad but not quite as good as I expected. Blacks are a bit crushed in several scenes but over all, it still looks better than the upconverted DVD.

I picked it up from Starstruck Entertainment who pulls in some region-free imports.

I'll have to agree with that 100%.

This movie Open Range really surprised me and is one of my favorite Westerns now. Costner was very un - Costner like in it

Between he Robert Duval and Annette Bening it was just a terrific and such a hit the mark climatic movie.

It looks GREAT un regular DVD upvert so I can only imagine how awesome the blu is gonna be EVENTUALLY!

The lack of lines being delivered in the Costner monotone was refreshing.
