Warner Bros Good Night, and Good Luck. (2005)

Was this ever fixed?

My copy from Amazon seems to be bugged (twice)... or was this a bad encode?

I can access the movie ok... and select the commentary with the audio button, can navigate to the supplement menu screen... then it just does jack.

I cant select anything from the extras menu at all.

My PS3 has the latest firmware and plays the extras just fine from other movies.

Was this encode botched by Warner? Or is it a bug with the PS3? If PS3 problem, is Sony aware of it and can it be fixed via a future firmware?

This is a Lionsgate title and the extras work fine in my PS3. You are not missing much!

this site says its a WB movie...

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movie...27&show=review

it also mentions the problem I have... however the review at HDD does not mention any problems.

Default Good Night and Good Luck

I am having problems playing Good Night and Good Luck on my PS3. The special features will not play. Any help?

I tried searching for this, but I kept getting a blank page.

I think you have to use the Green Triangle and select "Go To" specific numeric titles.

It's a known compatibility issue on this title with the PS3.

I'll have to try the Triangle method.

I still cannot access the Good Night, and Good Luck. Companion Piece. Oh well, I guess I will have to get another Blu Ray player.

I figured it out. I pressed 'triangle' and then 'goto', title #6. #5 was the theatrical trailer.

Yah....totally random and WAY LATE bump here. But was this issue ever corrected in a PS3 firmware update? I haven't tried my copy in a ps3, but have tried it in my oppo bd83 player, and I have this same issue with it in my oppo.

To fix this problem, once the movie starts press the triangle button and select the "Go To" option. Then change the title number to 2, 3, or 4. Hope this helps!

Thumbs down

I have the same problem. Had to do the title select just as the previous poster says. It's the only disc that I've had this issue with.

I just got this Blu-Ray disc yesterday (9/21/11), and it has been a major disappointment. "Good Night, and Good Luck" is a great movie, but the Blu-Ray edition has problems with my player. When I go to the Menu and select "Chapter Selections," I cannot move forward or backward on the chapter selection bar. Also, when I try to access the "Special Features," it takes me to that menu, but it doesn't let me select any of the bonus features. I can't even click on the "Return to Movie" button. When I hit the Stop button on my remote and then his Play, the disc goes back to the very beginning of the disc (the piracy warning, etc., before the film starts.

Is this a disc-authoring problem, or a problem with my Blu-Ray player (which wasn't cheap, by the way)? I have already added the most recent firmware update, but that hasn't solved anything.

Glad I still have my regular DVD of the film. I may have to return the Blu-ray disc to Amazon.

I finally got 'round to replacing my DVD of this with the BD. Luckily it works perfectly in my 2016 Sony BDP-S6700 player; no issues with chapter stops or accessing special features. This was one of the earliest BDs released, way back on 8/1/06, mastered using MPEG-2. It looks pretty good to my eyes considering its age, but looks a little too smoothed out to me. Thoughts on possible improvement with a remaster?

The specs have definitely improved over time:

2006 US release: MPEG-2 with Dolby Digital 5.1 (640 kbps) on a BD-25

2009 UK release: MPEG-4 AVC (24.01 Mbps) with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 (48kHz, 24-bit) on a BD-25

2016 Germany release: MPEG-4 AVC (35.00 Mbps) with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 (48kHz, 24-bit) on a BD-50

I just picked up the Germany release. Haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

I'd get the German import in a heartbeat.
