How about the Onkyo HTS894????????????

Hello All & Thank You In Advance!

My head is spinning & I need advice. I am seeing the Onkyo HTS894 selling for $400.00. It must be last year's model. Does this also have the 605 receiver that everyone likes? I would only have a Wii, TV,and the included DVD player hooked up to it. My TV is a 42" Sony Grand Wega DLP/3LCD that is 1080i. I am looking for great audio for TV stations & movies the most. I currently have an RCA "300 watt" system so I'm hoping this will be night & day in terms of audio crispness & clarity.

This is definitely not the 605 model since it is only 5.1 but I believe this will suit your purposes. I don't know if you will hear a night and day difference, though.

Nope the HTSP908 is the one with 605 in it.

Not sure but for the price you might want to look in to this from Sony.

For the price range it is in, the 605 is a pretty good receiver. It will handle the 1080p signal and most of the audio codecs when you jump over to a 1080p television.

OK!! How about the difference between the HTS894 system and the HTSR800 besides 7.1 vs. 5.1. What is the quality difference in speakers, receivers, etc. And why is there such concern about the pass thru HDMI??? Does it hurt the sound quality in any way or is it just a problem for mulitple components. All we would have is DVD player & a Wii along with the TV. Thanks again for all your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
