PS3: If I Purchase One...

I have been a PC gamer for years. I enjoy games such as Doom, Quake, and Oblivion for example. As the PS3 does not decode DTS HDMA, I would NOT be using it as a BD movie player. Games only.

I am seriously considering the purchase of a PS3 and would appreciate any input youy can give. For example:

1. What are some of your favorite games that I might enjoy.
2. Which PS3 to get. I'm a bit of a future proof buyer. Should I wait for a 120 Gig? Or does it matter really?

If you are really firmly set on a FPS, go with Resistance or Call of Duty 4.

But I think the best overall game is Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. It's more of an adventure game and doesn't have multi-player.

2. Doesn't matter which one you buy you can upgrade the hd yourself. the manual even tells you how.

FPS: Unreal Tournament 3, COD 4, Resistance. Upcoming games: Haze, Killzone, Resistance 2, COD5.

Racing: Motorstorm, GT5:P, DiRT, Need for Speed, Burnout. Upcoming: GT5, GRID, Motorstorm 2

RPG: Oblivion. Upcoming: FFXIII, White Knight Chronicals

Action Adventure: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Hevenely Sword Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. Upcoming: LittleBigPlanet, InFamous, God of War 3.

Fighting: Virtua Fighter 5. Upcoming: Tekken 6.

Other Notables: Warhawk

Those are the ones I would reccomend, I might have forgot some.

Still just a matter of "if", but need some convincing about cool games people enjoy. The games are what will nudge me over the edge to a point of no return.

The ONLY reason I went standalone is I had nightmares of my PS2 when it stopped playing DVDs...

and just so you know, since you are a PC gamer. Mouse and Keyboard support are in some PS3 games. UT3 is the only one that comes to mind right now, but I think we might see it in something like CIV: Revolution

Jericho is a scary PS3 game.

Probably not quite in that order.

I would pick up the 80GB PS3 (for the media card readers, PS2 backwards compat., extra USB ports, and SACD playback).

PS3 is a much better blu-ray player than PS2 was a DVD player.

I don't know any one who didn't have trouble with PS2 playing DVDs.
